12 years ago today we were attacked by our enemies. It is a day I will never forget. We need to stay vigilant in protecting our country. It was definitely one of the scariest days I have been through in my life. I lost a High School friend in the WTC.

I'm sorry for your loss.. I remember feeling distinctly unsettled for almost a year after the attacks... but who are our enemies exactly? Bunch of Saudis with box cutters?? Syria?? Iraq?? What do you mean by "staying vigilant"?

People that want to take down America. Staying vigilant means being alert to your surroundings and be aware that we can be attacked on our soil anywhere. The U.S. froze for many months after 9/11. The terrorists(Al Quaeda) won the battle. We have to continue to stay strong and know that our way of life will be attacked again.

I try NOT to expose myself too much to info each yr following 9/11. It simply agitates me and builds more amimosity in my heart and soul.

I raised my US flag on front lawn to half staff- that's about it.

We shall never forget.

If we didn't keep trying to take down THEIR countries, they wouldn't be trying to take ours down. Sorry for going off the 9/11 remembrance of the innocent victims that were lost on that horrible day.

A woman that I went to grammar school with works for the federal government. She lost 4 neighbors in the attack on the Pentagon.

I don't think that is correct.

what a significant event this was...we are still seeing the effects of this day to date on every day life.

It is still surreal to think of how it all happened.

I remember that day vividly. It is etched in my mind. Watching the second plane crash into the tower is surreal. The reaction by the anchors on TV is unreal.

I have him on ignore. But, I un-ignored him for this thread because I anticipated the drivel he would spew. The pro-terrorist is now back on ignore.

I left work early that day and remember the sight of an empty sky, no airplanes. Being near O'Hare airport, it was eerie. And the first radio report about it I thought it was just a small plane that had crashed into the tower.

just a few days after NIU's near upset of the Illini if memory serves correct.

I was an RA at university plaza that day... It was a long day, I remember packing my ruck sack, thinking I would my NG unit would be activated that week.... A few weeks later I committed to active duty service... Been here sense... A very powerful memory and life changing event.
