The one wild card is the money aspect of being in a conference. If the ACC Network is really successful then the $$$ may make it advantageous for Notre Dame to join the ACC as a full member.

Notre Dame is not concerned with money, in the sense of making as much as possible. Otherwise it would have joined the Big Ten a while back, would put up a jumbotron, and allow advertisements at the stadium. For that matter they would expand their stadium.

I do give them credit for that. They have not always chased the almighty dollar.

The one wild card is the money aspect of being in a conference. If the ACC Network is really successful then the $$$ may make it advantageous for Notre Dame to join the ACC as a full member. As things stand ND makes approximately $15 million per year for the NBC football contract plus a few million from the ACC TV deal for basketball and other sports so there is not much difference in money between being in the ACC or not.
Again, there are those at Notre Dame who want to stay independant at all costs but as we all know, that $$$$ can sometimes change people's minds.
I don't suspect the P5 conferences will break away from the NCAA as its too much work to come up with governance rules and administration for that.

As for the upcoming rotation, I suspect the TV networks will want to have a say in when and where these will be, plus what is the point in announcing things so far in advance.

That is for the old contract that expires in 2015.

It has not been disclosed how much NBC will pay ND for the ten year renewal from 2015-2025.

I am not so sure that the new NBC money is not significantly higher than the corresponding ACC payout.

ND picked a great year to go 12-0 and garner high TV ratings last year, just in time to re-negotiate the NBC deal.

I really hope we start a regular rotation with Notre Dame sooner rather than later...

The VT AD said this week that we get Notre Dame at home in 2018.

Looks like Wake Forest is going to be dropped next year and Louisville may be our game @ Lucas Oil Stadium. Per Lou at BGI (Blue and Gold ). So next year their will be only four ACC teams on our schedule it looks like. We're stuck in some contracts I assume.

How is that beign a parasite? They get one game every other year that they move to a neutral site game, and it comes out of THEIR home games. I.e. they are moving their own home game. Or are you complaining just to complain?

Such a parasite to move their home game to a place that may actually allow more visiting fans to visit (they still control the tix). Oh the horror. Shame them for moving the game closer to Louisville and moving it to prime time. They should be punished.

RE: When will ND comfirm more future rotation games?
When the ACC sold out to take ND's worthless sports ND agreed to play five ACC games a year in football. Next year they are backing out of the Wake game. That means Wake will not play ND in the first three years of the rotation like every ACC team is supposed to do unless ND plays six games vs the ACC in '15 or '16. That's crawfishing, and that's typical Notre Dame.

Yes they will. It just means Syracuse won't play them twice as currently scheduled (5x3=15. there are only 14 ACC teams. Take one game away, and guess what you get? 14). Also, remember they moved to the ACC, one year early. They were not supposed to move until 2015-16, just like us.

So was Wake supposed to play at ND? And Wake will just take UL's slot in the ND rotation in future years?

EDIT: Apparently Wake and UL are two separate scheduling issue and do not impact each other? If ND is only playing 4 games they need to play 6 in a subsequent year.

Wake is schedule to play ND in '15 already.

That's what should happen, but the chances of that happening are nil. The ACC will do what it originally did. Bend over and take one from the Irish.

The 2015 game on that schedule simply has not been removed yet. That was an outstanding OOC return game for Wake from their home and home series signed for the 2011 season. The game was scheduled for 2014 under the new agreement with the ACC which was suppose to cancel any existing home and home agreements between schools, save for Syracuse retaining the extra game in the cycle due to their agreement with Met Life Stadium. . That said, since it appears they are just giving up a home game, and not a road one, it's likely not a big deal. Or for that matter, Wake may not even care that they don't have to honor a return trip they were obligated to make from their home and home signed in 2011. Essentially they just got a free Notre Dame home game.

I need to see more credible info before I believe ND is dismissing the Wake game next year.

They only have 6 non-ACC games scheduled for 2015 (Tex, Pur, USC, Navy, Umass, and Stan), so if they did have to drop a team in 2014, it could be moved back a year. And since Wake was on the schedule for 2015, they could just be doing that too, and it would make the most sense of any move.

I would not take it as being too big of a deal at this point.

If they push it to 2015, then no biggie. If it gets dropped altogether that's another story.
