RE: WKU and South Al
I did notice at the game the other night that when Western Kentucky took a timeout the refs called them WKU, and when South Alabama took a time out they called them South Alabama. I think that's the branding preferences the schools want to use and the league is respecting it.

Hopefully, not anymore. That would be as bad a "Ark State", "Westky", "or Ul Mon". Just saying.

I don't see why they can't just use USA, or just plain SA if USA is somehow unpatriotic.

Joe meant, that's as bad as saying "Arky lite".

Arky lite? Who says that? Akr St, or as a term of endearment, Arkie St... Same as I have no problem with WKU or Western. Western KY seems odd, but doesn't bother me. We have just never been called by that...

So, if the Cajuns and Warhawks don't fulfill the need to call names, you'll just proceed on by yourselves, huh?

Most people over age 60 would say they are an Arkie or Arkansawyer rather than Arkansan. Most of the notable writers from the state use Arkansawyer but the good suit folks think it is archaic and backward. The chamber of commerce types get offended over Arkie or Arkansawyer but I'm not a chamber of commerce type.

RE: WKU and South Al
I wanted to let all USA fans that sit on the visitors side of the field to know not all WKU fans are like the one that was dogging out the down USA player on that last drive. If you sit close to the WKU section then you probably heard this guy going on and on about ...

"get him off the field" "he's faking" and on and on and as a WKU fan I was embarrassed by his actions/words and in the end he was called out on it by WKU fan/s sitting close by.

Well I just got in about 45 minutes ago after not being around a internet connection since Sunday and other than the game it was a great week...lots of sun and great fishing. Congratulations on win...

hopefully my Jan trip to the gulf coast ends with a couple wins (basketball...Troy & USA) and more great fishing.

Glad you got to enjoy some fishing. I didn't hear the guy you're talking about but I'm on the other side. USA fans know WKU better than that than to think he represents your fan base. No worries there. :)

With Skully here... I've met plenty of WKU fans over the years (mostly hoops, obviously) and y'all are a class bunch and I enjoy meeting y'all. I would NEVER allow one a-hole fan (we've got a few ourselves) to represent an entire fanbase. I'm gonna miss the hell outta WKU now that you're moving on.
