Mike Raita announced the end of THE ZONE at end of tonight's show
After 10 years, he announced the show was not going to continue. He didn't say exactly when its last show would air, but it sounded like tonight's show was the end. Was Scarbo's exit the cause or a sign of his reading the end was near?

With the end of 97.3 "ZONE" and now the 33-40 "ZONE", B'ham is now a "ZONE FREE" city.

33/40 was recently sold. I would expect a lot of changes there.

Wow. I had no idea Mike Raita still had a job.

Now that this bit of gump propaganda is going away, is there any hope of a program featuring "Birmingham" sports that might take it's place???

No, the show that will ultimately take its audience and took Scarbinsky is actually more targeted to Alabama and Auburn.

The problem is that there is a severe lack of quality sports guys in the media.

Even Scarbinsky being head & shoulders above everyone else is diminished when he works with Karle, Schultz, & whoever that Auburn guy is.

Diversity improves the offering in both sports media and politics. The more totalitarian a system becomes, the less it is forced to try to please its audience, the public. That results in efforts to only please themselves like with "BCS all the time, every time" or questionable political actions like the passage of the AAA last winter.
