Sucks to see ODU down there..... I don't expect that to be the case for much longer though, they'll rebound.

If we are third, UTEP fans will have to hope 3 teams get into the tourney.

I think Tulsa is going to surprise. We were very young and very injury prone last year. A little maturity and a few additions to shore up the front court and improve shooting and I think TU is going to be pretty good this season.

Because those of us who support historically strong programs want to see the other guys do well. RPI matters.

Yeah. It looks low. I would be pretty shocked if ECU wasn't a top 5 team this year, but who knows? I also don't know what their conference schedule looks like. If they face a lot of the tougher teams on the road, that could be a big factor.

MT has more talent than its ever had. They'll be top 3/4. If they gel they'll be tough to beat.

RE: Lindy's Magazine C-USA Basketball Projection
Ive followed the Monarchs for 20 years and have never seen them picked near the bottom, much less at the bottom. Sad part is its quite likely accurate this season. Ill say "sorry" in advance for the RPI drain the Monarchs will be this year. Its what happens when your coach goes on a three year binge instead of recruiting. Hopefully we'll get it turned around in a couple seasons. We may have only 8 or 9 players on the roster this season, so even after we get some players they'll be young for a year or two. Enjoy the wins. ODU will be back strong.

10th is ridiculous. Our mirror opponent is ODU who should be one of the worst teams in CUSA, we play twice. We also get most of what I think are the best teams at home in USM, La Tech, Charlotte, and UTEP.

Home
USM
La Tech
Charlotte
UTEP
Rice
UTSA
Tulane
ODU

Away
MTSU
UAB
Tulsa
Marshall
UNT
FAU
FIU
ODU

We could even get 3 or 4 wins on the road pretty easily. 8+ wins easily with what we return.

I see like 8-10 solid teams in the conference. I think the conference will be strong this year.

Get ready for head explosions....

If anyone would have told anybody 5 years ago that Southern Miss would have *possibly* the best basketball team and the worst football team.....

Agreed...

This prediction feels like picking names out of a hat to me. MT will be nearly impossible to beat at home, and this talent we've got coming in? No way is it 8th in the conference.

The problem is we collectively have very weak schedules OOC. Although we may have a bunch of teams with 8-10 wins(D-1) going into conference play, we are going to have a bunch of soft schedules to get there. I think the conference may actually be stronger than it is going to look in the CPU numbers.

Even though our rpi didn't get us to the dance last year, your comments are spot-on.
