RE: Rank the Texas 12
Instead of trying to shut it down, how about we try to get this thread back on topic?
Texas A&M - (1-1)* They'd have a better shot at the National Championship if they stayed in the XII. Rice win is looking better every week.
Texas Tech - (2-0)* Wow. This is probably the surprise of the season so far. A very young team and staff just grabbed a win from Gary Patterson. Quality win.
Baylor - (1-0)* Someone needs to institute a mercy rule. Still, it's too early to tell with Baylor - Louisiana-Monroe might be an interesting game, however.
Rice - (1-1) Quality loss and a win against an AQ team. Not bad for Rice.
TCU - (0-2)* The loss at Lubbock stings, but it's pretty clear that Tech is a much better team than they were originally thought to be. Still, TCU plays SMU in 2 weeks - will they choke (again) and get their 3rd loss?
North Texas - (2-1) Split the best MAC teams 1-1. Considering how the rest of the state is doing, that's pretty good. Gut check at Georgia next week.
Texas - (1-2) Texas has played better competition than most this early in the season, but expectations are so high in Austin that panic has already started. Consider that NMSU gave up 42 points to UTEP when looking at Texas' 56-point blowout to start the year.
SMU - (0-1)* Paying June Jones $2 million dollars to beat a (good, but still) FCS team by a point puts SMU's year so far in perspective. Tech loss is looking better, however.
UTSA - (1-2) A win against New Mexico, a gutsy loss in Stillwater, and then a loss at Arizona. Not good, not horrible. Horrible comes next week.
Houston - (1-0)* We thought we knew something about this Cougar team before Temple went out and showed just how good the American is. Still too early.
UTEP - (1-1) Miners continue their literal drive down I-10 to San Antonio next week, then play Colorado State. Going 3-1 to start may look good, but no.
Texas State - (1-0)* You know who's worse than New Mexico? Southern Miss. They're at Lubbock next week. This will be ugly.
Pillow Fight of the Week: Texas (not that one) @ Texas (also not that one).
Cupcake of the week: SMU. It's hard to pick between the two finalists, but the Aggies are better than Texas Tech.
*If you want to count FCS wins, the Southland will happily take you back.
