I've vowed never to go back twice now. My 8-year old says he wants to go this year though.

RE: Bowling possibilities
Was at ND the day of the loss we try not to speak of. Listened to it in the radio inside a fellow poster (on this board) Winnebago. Good day at ND, felt dirty about the loss. We did not go to CMU b/c it was not supposed to be close...and the old ND rv lot, next to the stadium was amazing!

Again, my memory might be foggy and I've tried to shunt that game out of my mind.
Yeah, your right. We have up two quick touchdowns in the first 5 min of the game and spotted them a 14-0 lead. WMU came back to take a 17-14 lead, before giving up one more touchdown in the final minutes of the game.
I was there. If I remember correctly, Josh Bush ran a punt back for a TD to give us the lead in the 4th quarter, then CMU marched on us and scored to go up 21-17. We drove back on them - I think Bush had his hands on a pass in the end zone that he couldn't hang onto - before CMU stopped us on downs, and that was it.
Worst. Loss. Ever. For me, nothing else has come close - before or after.
I've been back to Kelly-Shorts a couple of times since, but I have multiple Bronco friends who were there that day and have vowed to never set foot in that stadium again.
On a more positive note: we had a ton of Broncos who made the trip to Mt. P that year. A MAC West title may not be on the line, but this year's game will be the best that both teams have been at the same time since 2006. I won't be able to be there, but it would be great to see at least a couple of thousand Broncos take over an end zone or a corner of Kelly-Shorts, like I remember back in my student days.

Quote:Those always critical of Fleck? Only 4 or 5 at the peak, the typical Bronco fan knows almost nothing about stuff, and then a couple dozen that row hard.
True -- very very very small % when you put all fans, generic, blah, big, or hardcore all together. However, this isn't EMU -- so a very small % will get a couple handfuls. :) And I'm not talking about last year and leading into the beginning part -- I'm pretty much talking about @ mid-season this year.
Quote:Most of the anti-Fleck talk was just about style, nothing personal, most hoped for the best.
Well, I think of such small minority of folks, it is personal toward him (turned off by someone by one's outward swagger & style to not wanting them as a coach, even when winning, is personal although not necessarily massive). But I will admit -- if Fleck continues this -- by the time Fleck were to leave (end of '16 or '17) -- said folks at this point now would not want him to go, and if he brought a team to a playoff bowl -- they'd be rooting for him (assuming he wouldn't be coaching a hated team of theirs).
Quote:But yeah, if that 2% scenario worked out, the haters would wear the RTB shirt, no problem!
Yes, my point exactly. Heck, Fleck lovers from the get go would be jealous that they would get to the front of the line to do so in any spotlight!

It is the old Bob Devaney line about college football coaching:
"You fans are the greatest! You are with me win or...tie"
