I guess there is always something going on in SA but nothing of note. I'm with you and was surprised and not too happy. I actually think we will get a bigger crowd for Houston due to the proximity and the fact that the UTSA student body is made up of 50% Houston natives now

I'd like to believe the 11 am start time had something to do with it but who knows. Disappointing but still the second highest attendance and I'm sure a lot of teams would love to consider 41k a disappointment.

They need to put tarps on the endzone seats though. They look terrible.

If ECU loses to VT next week, you won't see ANY talk about "Oh, well they were the better team... they were favored.. blah blah." At THIS level of football, you go in and you play to win. No excuses, no moral victories.

Grow a pair and play to win. UTSA has a long way to go.

Excuse me?!? Did you just say grow a pair and win? You mean like when ECU went 1-4-1 against Wingate, Appalachian, Presbyterian, Louisburg, William & Mary, and Lenoir-Rhyne in your third season? Btw, that powerhouse known as Lenoir-Rhyne beat you 47-0.

Heck, a full 30 years after ECU got their football program started, you were STILL playing teams like Lenoir-Rhyne, Catawba, Elon, Newberry, and Wofford! We just got done playing a nationally ranked Oklahoma State team in our third season, have Arizona next week, and we already played three top 25 teams in just our 2nd season last year. And speaking of winning, it wasn't until your 9th year that you guys finally even managed to have your first winning season, even despite the powderpuffs you scheduled. Our football program has balls of steel for playing the schedule we're facing in our 3rd season, and you're in NO position to talk.

Yikes

When we started football, it was a different world. Start-up programs these days jump right into it, especially if they want to join FBS. Apples and oranges, to an extreme.

It wasn't a different world 30 years later though, was it? Especially not for you guys since you played the same lightweights for 3 decades. To think that I thought Texas State was bad until I saw who you guys were still playing 30 years later even into the 60's. Yet you come on here and talk $#%& to us because we didn't beat a team ranked 13 in the country in our third season? Get a damn clue!

Yeah... what he said!!!! I thought UTSA did well today. Was impressed with the atmosphere, that crowd could get really loud! The Offense (in the first half, which was all I was able to watch) looked OK. I saw some pretty good players on a very new team. You guys will get better. Keep it up... glad you are here!

Sad state of affairs in C-USA if getting blown out at home and scoring in garbage time is a "good showing."

Elitism talk. If I recall a SEC team only put 3 points on this team last week....

I wouldn't call State an SEC team...

What do you suggest instead, that we drown in our sorrows bc our 3rd year program couldnt beat a top 15 program in the nation?

don't feed the trolls, 5 years from now UTSA will probably be a top G5 team while they (ECU) can't get past 6 wins.

The only maggots around here are people who don't disclose whom they root for. Or is it safe to assume you're a Marshall supporter by virtue of the name you've chosen for yourself?

Sometimes the truth hurts.
Bash away all you all want.

FYI, I am a Herd fan. And I include Marshall in that statement.

If your team isn't in a Power Conference, then your team is at the bottom of the barrel with the rest of the 'have nots'.
I love CUSA and the teams in it. Just don't see the need for chest thumping by anyone.

Fair enough. Speaking personally, my comments were in defense of UTSA after the ECU fan essentially took a cheap shot at us for losing to the 13th ranked team in the nation, and said we need to "grow a pair". Considering we played our first game two years ago this week, and are now already playing the likes of Oklahoma State and Arizona back-to-back, we're already sporting bowling balls. He implied that nothing matters unless we win, and I disagree.

Some will note that the Pokes started using their reserves late in the 3rd and in the 4th, but all the 'big boys' do so. The Aggies did against SHSU, Nebraska against Southern Miss, Baylor against Buffalo, Wisconsin against Tennessee Tech, and so on. All those other games wound up as 37+ losses. UTSA is the only one who held their own against backups, and in fact outscored them 28-14. It's not something to hang our hats on, but it's definitely something positive to take away from the game.

Besides, though we were down 35-7 at the half, we had 220+ yards of offense against them at halftime and their yardage against us was about 280. The difference was we had two missed field goals and a dropped TD pass in that half while they took full advantage of their scoring opportunities. That's to be expected from a 13th ranked team though. So all I'm saying is that for a third year program, there are other things to consider besides just the score when gauging how far we've come so far, and I resent people telling us to "grow a pair" just because we take some positives away from a loss to a nationally ranked team.

Me too. I really love the bold color scheme, dumbed-down charts and graphs, and the top-notch "sports" section. I just wish they would publish on Saturday and Sunday.
