wow.
Smoke free campus.
I don't like restricting smoking outside with the exception of inside the stadium.

I believe UT is a smoke free campus.

1)Please stand during the Mizzou alma mater "Dueling Banjos".
2)All Mizzou fans must be addressed as "Bubba" or "Junior".
3)Discounted admission is availible with John Deere attire and orange vests.
4)Light beer availible means beer will be sold sunrise to sundown

RE: Guidelines/suggestions for fans going to the Mizzou game
I hope you all have plenty of fun! Columbia is a great college town. I think/hope most fans will be welcoming. We really only hate Kansas, Nebraska, and Oklahoma fans. Not too fond of Texas either. We're learning to hate our new SEC brethren... Arkansas looks to be our new rival.

Plenty of fun to be had in Columbia. I would suggest just parking your car downtown and walking around. Broadway is our main street through town. Boatloads of great college bars and restaurants. It will most definitely be hoping both Friday and Saturday nights.

Some Columbia staples:

Booches. Little mini burgers that melt in your mouth. They only take cash. They also have pool tables.
Shakespeare's. Outstanding pizza. You can make it your way every way... from crust to types of cheese and of course all sorts of toppings.
Flatbranch. Columbia's own brewery. Outstanding beers. They have a pumpkin beer that may be released already... one of the best I've ever drank. It sells out in days. The food is very, very good too.
CC's Broiler offers some great, more upscale dining. Great steaks and seafood.
CJ's. On Broadway. Incredible chicken wings and good, cold beer.

Those are just a few that popped in my head... All are downtown and within a 10 or so minute walk from each other.

Bars are plentiful. Some of the Columbia staples:

Harpo's. Hands down. THE Mizzou bar.
The Fieldhouse. Right on Broadway. Another Columbia staple.
Willies. It's actually connected to Fieldhouse.
The Penguin. A piano bar. Plenty of fun throwing tips in a jar and hearing your favorite songs from dueling piano players. It's next to Fieldhouse and Willies
Quintons. It has a two level deck/patio that looks over downtown. Very cool.
Campus Bar & Grille. It too has a roof top patio. Super cheap drinks too.
The Bengal. Small bar but plenty of tents and outside patio seating.
The Heidelberg. A Columbia staple. It's across the street from our world renowned Journalism school. Has some solid bar food too. And another rooftop patio.
McNallys! A great Irish bar with cheeeap drinks.
Trops. Frozen mixed drinks that will put you on your a$$. A great way to start the night. Just walk around downtown with them. The ladies love them too.
Deja Vu. Haven't been in a long time, but it has a good sized dance floor, and it's a great place to pick up a co-ed for you younger Toldeo alumni...

I think that's just the tip of the sword. If you struggle to find a bar in downtown Columbia. That's on you. Ha.

Now... After you've been drinking until 1 or so (Sorry, that's only as late as our bars stay open... They're working on that), if you're like me, it's always good to get a late night snack. Gumby's Pizza and WiseGuy's Pizza are dirt cheap and deliver until either 3 or 4 a.m. If you're really nice, WiseGuy's delivery guys have been known to pick up beer and cigarettes for you too on the drive to your hotel. Just saying. But please, provide an extra tip for that service.

Of course, everyone knows not to drink and drive. I especially suggest it in Columbia. Not only is it not safe; the cops are TOUGH in Columbia. Not only do you have Columbia PD; you have Boone County PD, MU PD, and MO State Highway Patrol. All can be found throughout our town. Thankfully, the cab service is getting better. I suggest getting some cab numbers before you start drinking. You may even want to preorder a cab for a certain time.

If you guys have any question about our town, let me know. I love hanging with visiting fans and ensuring they enjoy my home away from home. (St. Louis is my home today.)

Oh, and regarding the smoke-free campus. No one pays attention to that garbage on gamedays. Cigars can be found everywhere... self included.

MizzouBob, Thanks for the info. We will be making our way to Columbia today. With regards to tailgating, we read that there are a couple of gameday lots (no passes required, $25) that open at 8am. We will likely be down there by 8am, just wanted to make sure that was early enough to get a spot. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

RE: Guidelines/suggestions for fans going to the Mizzou game
I'll try to help on the parking, but I'l be honest... with the programs increased success (thanks to Coach Pinkel) the majority of the parking is donor parking now. But you have options.

Here is a link to game day parking: http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/miss...map-13.pdf

In that link, you'll notice some gray boxes. Those are the pay lots. There are two pay lots near Truman's Landing, which is where all the RVs are (and where I'll be). To be honest, that is one HELL of a walk... up a steep hill. They say there's a shuttle that goes back and forth. But it doesn't run enough for me.

If I were you, I would try and park in the Tiger Avenue Garage or Parking Structure #7. Also... here's something MU doesn't advertise: See the intersection of Providence and Stadium on that map? North on Providence (from that intersection) is a pretty good grouping of Fraternity & Sorority houses. All of them sell parking in their front lawns. If you head a bit east of Providence, you'll see more Greek houses. Many of them sell parking in their lots too. I would look into parking there. MUCH closer walk. Many of them are cooking BBQ and will give you a dog on the way to the game. I believe the price is the same.

Now, if you park in the garages or the Greek houses, EARLY is the key. The earlier the better. Tons of people want those spots. I would say get there by 8 a.m. at the earliest. Quick note: I don't believe they allow grilling in the garages... So, that may impact your parking decisions.

By the way, if you do want to park in the garages, here's a link that will give you more info as to where they all are:
http://parking.missouri.edu/html/main_garage.cfm

Last bit about parking. This is what I would do, if I were visiting Columbia... To hell with tailgating. Go experience downtown Columbia. It's an outstanding college downtown, in my opinion. And if you're younger and in decent shape, Faurot Field is only about a mile walk south from downtown. You can hit up Mizzou staples like Harpos and the Heidelberg. Get something to eat and drink at each. On your walk towards the stadium, you can walk through our campus, and see what Mizzou really looks like. Before you know it, you'll be at the stadium. Most of the walk is flat too!
