sorry man, your not going to convince me that the quality of basketball doesn't jump two or more steps heading into Conference USA from the MAC. Maybe Kent State is among the MAC schools who could compete but overall its not really close.

While the gap has closed significantly with the CUSA loss of Memphis, UCF, Houston, SMU, and Tulsa, it is still above the MAC IMO. That said, if Akron is dying to get out of the MAC, the CUSA might be a landing spot. The AAC as their fans talk about, is an absolute pipe dream.

last season the MAC's rpi was 12, CUSA was 13. The MAC had 6/12 top 100 teams, CUSA had 5/16 (that includes Tulsa). The MAC had 4/12 teams +200rpi, CUSA had 7/16.

CUSA is definitely not 2 or more steps above the MAC, it's not even 1 step above.

Last season was also an exception. The first time in 15 years where the West has fielded ANY semi-competitive teams.
