RE: 18 point underdog to MD
Betting lines have absolutely nothing to do with what Vegas thinks will happen.
They are set in order to get the most amount of action on the game they can get.
That's it and that's all a Vegas line is about.
That's why Blaine was a gold mine last year......Vegas gave him way too much respect and set the line all year long not on what WOULD happen, but on what the rest of the nation thought of ODU. It was easy pickings.
Our line against Maryland represents nothing other than what Vegas thinks will get people to bet on this game. With that said, stay completely away, who knows how we will perform against a bcs school?
Towson almost beat them last year and out gained them but they are also a much better team this year. Frankly, I'm ready for anything and as such, I wouldn't even think about betting on a game like this.
Just enjoy our first ever game against a bcs team!

If I were a betting man, I'd take the points in a heartbeat. Thinking back, I think Cal Poly in year 1 was our only blowout loss. With TH, I just don't see losing by more than 18. Then again, I never bet (other than on 2 games 7 years ago when I was physically in Vegas) so it's easy for me to say.

Even if Maryland happens to jump out to some big lead and yanks their starters, we likely won't--they still need game action and time together (against FBS teams--even second and third string FBS players). I'd be afraid of going against ODU's offense because Heinicke could drop 14 points on you in the last 5 minutes of a blow out and you get that cover.
Find another game you like and get something and tease the ODU line up to 23...

That's why teasers are terrible in football and why I stayed farrrrrr away from this game.
Our lack of athletes that could compare to Marylands was glaring.

Agreed... I never really think of them as being athletic, but maybe they are decent this year. Will be interesting to see how Maryland fares against FSU, Miami, Louisville, Clemson, etc.
