I agree. League play will be bruising this season, so every early win is a major plus.

Thank goodness for 7 home games (especially the Charlotte addition), but the Dukes still must win one or two on the road if the playoffs are going to happen.

Beat Akron!

I will feel good about making the playoffs if we win this week, next week, the week after that, and just continue winning right up to the end of the fourth quarter of the Towson game.

Seriously, with all the FCS teams upsetting FBS teams last week it is critical to beat Akron to stay in the top FCS tier group. Currently, our strength of schedule is ranked 202 by Sagarins - we don't have a lot going for us there. We are ranked 20th so a loss should bring down our ranking to the fringe as well. I know its early....

I agree. Usually losing this game wouldn't be a big deal but the league is really tough this year. Also, to go lose to the worst in the MAC wouldn't do well for our FBS hopes but really, gotta get this win and SHOULD win the game. I hope the team isn't approaching this like a game we could win, but rather one we should win. I think we're way better than them.

I had forgotten about the revenge factor. Terry Bowden coached Samford in 1991 when they beat JMU in the playoffs on an incorrectly called missed FG to end the game.

I was at that game and thought we had it won.......... then in the latter parts of the 4th quarter the worse case scenarios occurred. Another reason to whoop the Bowden dynasty.
