Pirate, my hat's off to you sir.
thanks RebKev i respect all of the opinions on this and all boards. i am trying to be an advocate of my school. i have been around ECU sports since 1959. i have seen ECU come a long long way. i am very proud of my school. we at ECU, like tidewater have been overlooked and undervalued. there are very key officals of the SEC who now have a understanding of the overlooked market(tidewater VA and NC) and the D1 football program (ECU) on the doorstep of that market. perhaps you feel a school like ,EAST Carolina, with a directional name is unworthy of a spot in the SEC ? just remember a very proud university that, IS, a proud directional school, just won part of the national championship and is ranked #1....that directional school, is, the university of... SOUTHERN califorina....... the USC Trojans 04-cheers

ECU, a sleeping giant, is the closest D1 football program, less then 50 miles away, from the large $$$$$$$ market of, Tidewater VA( Norfolk, Hampton,Newport News, VaBeach,Portmouth, Chesepeake) 4+million. the next closest D1 program is NCState 300 miles away. the ACC and BE blindly left, open, this vast, unifiliated market......that a, SEC afiliated, ECU, could quickly fill.........the ACC, has support in the Tidewater market ,but, its very soft support, as no ACC team is within 300 miles, of the Tidewater Va market........ECU, just a short 50 miles away , as a SEC afiliate, could, grab this vast market, right from under the very nose, of the pompus ACC . my hunch , the SEC cherry picks WVU and ECU within 10 years......the SEC, can see the tens of thousands of unifilated ACC haters, making the short 50 mile drive to ECUĀ  to see a SEC football game 04-cheers
 Don't even get your hopes up on this one. The SEC would never even think about bringing in two nothing happening schools like ECU and WVU. What in the wide world do you think these two could bring to the conference? East Carolina is 5th within it's own state for crying out loud. There is a good reason why the ACC has never offered a invitation to these two schools. ECU and WVU sports are very :snore: :snore: :snore: WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
sure the ACC has support in Tidewater..very soft support..a mile wide an an inch deep....... a ACC team hasn't played a game in Tidewater in 20 years.........and couldn't even sell out the Oyster Bowl..........the ACC left the tidewater market wide open, took a huge market for granted.......the SEC woun't 04-cheers :
4 million people in Tidewater?!?! Try about a mil and a half (still a pretty large market). NC State is the next closest 1A school?!?! Try UVA which is about 120 miles away and not much further than ECU. If ECU wants to be taken seriously as an athletic school, it has to do better than 1-11 in the CUSA. ECU is a school getting bigger, but James Madison is turning into quite a large school too (16000 enrolled and climbing fast; 1AA). VCU is big (no football program 24000 enrolled I believe). I'm sure there are plenty of other examples of large schools with small scale athletics, but ECU is one of them.
US Bureau of Labor Statistics as of 2000 says Norfolk-Va Beach 1,574,204...... plus then add the rest of Tidewater VA and tidewater NC that whole market is 3-4 million. i think JMU is a great school with excellent people. i use to do business with JMU. i never understood why they never moved up to D1, football. Dr Ronald Carrier(spelling?) had a great vision for JMU,what happened? ECU will soon be the 2nd largest in NC. with the ACC and BCS dollars ECU would be right up there with UNC and NCSU. ECU has done very well with the little we have. ECU was #1 in NC early in the 90s till lack of BCS status hert us. with SEC afilition ECU would quickly move to #1 again in NC. 04-cheers

This guy has been BEGGING for ECU to get into a BCS conference, and it's kind of embarassing as well as amusing. It would be stupid for the SEC to expand. They're the most lucrative conference around the board, even with ACC expansion. ECU is not on the Big East radar. They're a distant 4th behind Memphis, Central Florida and another school, probably UMass. So now he's begging for them to get into the SEC. Of course, this has started SEC expansion rumors, which are obviously BS. If the SEC were seriously considering expansion, don't you think that SEC fans would be the first to hear? When the Big East was talking expansion we heard it down here in Cincinnati because we're in the middle, or on the edge of Big Ten, SEC and Big East territory. There have been no rumor WHAT SO EVER of SEC or Big Ten expansion. There have been talk of Big East expansion, ECU isn't being considered. ECU isn't going to the SEC either. Stop harassing these good people!

Cats Claw definately has ***** envy towards East Carolina. You stop stalking every post about ECU and its future. I know you are worried about that but you worry about your situation and let the Pirates worry about ours. We know who owns who in football between ECU and UC anyway. Just enjoy the Big East. I know you wish you were in the position of ECU but you are not so move on.
