Of course, when no other D1 school would touch him, guess who hired him? Nancy Zimpher of course!
The reason he refused to release him was because another head coach was tampering with his recruitment while he was still signed with Tennessee before asking out of his LOI. Any other head coach would have done the same thing...
Marcus,
As much as I don't like Pear because his association with Satan...I belive you are correct...Bruce had a legit beef with the the guys calling before Smith ever said he wanted out, much was granted his release.
If coaches were alllowed to call players still under commitment and with how kids get disgruntled easily over lack of PT, it would be a three ring circus
Exactly. You simply cannot allow those kinds of things to happen. I would never have released Smith under those circumstances, what made it worse was that Billy Smith (Tyler's Father) was in contact during that time with a certain Auburn Booster who had been reprimanded numerous times in the past by the NCAA...

You can directly block certain schools like UC did with Downey and Wake. Next...

I am not saying that Tyler Smith will end up at UC, but there has to be truth to these rumors. Guys like Dave Telep don't just make things up, and he has obviously heard that there has been contact.

How many times has a player and his family not mentioned a school and suddenly ended up at that school? You never know.

Well, both of those articles are old. One of them is from April 9, and the other one is from before the first day of the Spring sigining period. As we know, a lot can change in a short period of time in the recruiting world. I agree with Willy, if guys like Dave Telep and Jerry Meyer are reporting it, then there has to be some truth to UC being involved with Tyler Smith.

Our old coach didn't leave a program to pick up the pieces from a long list of recruiting violations. Check in with Umass. They think Cal is the bees knees.

DC,
Just joking with you man..thus the winky face..this has gotten a little too mean spirited on this holy day.
BTW, are the crowds still pretty good for the East Carolina, Tulane, UCF, Rice and Southern Miss games or does everyone leave at half time to go grab some Porky's? ;-)

Which is the reason he's our OLD coach. Any players get caught with fur coaches and a ton of cash in their apartments lately?
