Check out team three on this list! I love seeing this, however there are still a few to many digs against the team... And I hope the players don't read any of this stuff... They need to be hungry.

I am just happy that we no longer have to hear about Boise after this past weekend, say goodbye to the top 25 Boise.

Yup Boise screwed the pooch on this season early.... Bad for them, great for us! Now we have a shot to take the attention typically reserved for them.

A BCS shot is so remote to even talk about and an unrealistic view. Not only is going undefeated such a small percentage chance, the Fresno State problem is another roadblock. I don't see Fresno dropping a game this year even if the Huskies did somehow go undefeated. I still say NIU ends up 10-2.

I agree Toledo and Purdue have good shots to beat NIU but not WMU, they are awful. If there is a third loss it will be to BSU, EIU,or Kent

Some of the early week 1 rankings coming in including the one I feel very highly of, Desimone, NIU made a 5 spot jump from 36 to 31 this week, I would guess we will see a similar 5 spot jump in ap/coaches?

Fresno had all kinds trouble in thier home opener with Rutgers. They have a tough schedule, Cal Poly is #10 in the FCS and we all saw how tough the better FCS teams are last week. They travel to SD ST on 10/26 who should have time to recover from their debacle against EIU and close out the season at rival SJST. Wouldn't give them a perfect record just yet.

I just want NIU to play the games week to week. The rankings will sort them selves out, if we stay healthy and focuses NIU can and should beat every one of those teams.

Quote:There's hardly any question that Northern Illinois was the wrong selection for the most recent Orange Bowl, especially after losing 31-10 to Florida State.

So what team should have gone to the Orange Bowl instead the Huskies? Noone ever seems to answer that question. And how would they have done against FSU?

Quote:With that being said, there's little reason to believe that the Huskies are anything less than a Top 25 team.

Elite quarterback Jordan Lynch is back, and that should be enough in the MAC.

Lynch finished the 2012 season with 3,138 yards and 25 touchdowns to six interceptions through the air. He also ran for 1,815 yards and scored 19 touchdowns on the ground, making him the Mid-American Conference's version of Johnny Manziel.

I thought Johnny Manziel was the SEC version of Jordan Lynch.

Quote:There are other quality teams in the MAC, but Northern Illinois will be a 10-win squad and finish inside of the Top 25 because of it.

If Tommylee Lewis is able to stay healthy, he will emerge as a star receiver for Northern Illinois, helping Lynch overcome the loss of leading receiver Martel Moore. Akeem Daniels, meanwhile, ran for nine rushing touchdowns in 2012, helping to establish the Huskies' unstoppable offense.

Now just imagine how much more unstoppable the Huskie O would be if they found yet another RB who had the size to just wear down the defense.

Quote:Throw in a defense that allowed just 19.9 points per game and you have yourself a Top 25 team, regardless of which conference it comes from.

One bad game for the Huskies, and they will suffer the same fate.

Yes absolutely true the Huskies would suffer the same fate once the first loss arrives. For those looking way ahead to a possible BCS run, it does offer perhaps some reason for optimism that the non-AQ competition appears at this point to be limited to Fresno State. Getting Utah State and Boise losses early helps those faint slight chances if NIU was to somehow go undefeated. I wonder what would happen if both Fresno and NIU finished undefeated, who would get the nod. Originally I would have said Fresno easy, but the MWC could be much much weaker than anyone envisioned. What I would pay top dollar for is to have a rematch of NIU/Fresno St in a bowl game. You have Fresno St with a clear advantage in skilled positions, but NIU with a much better offensive line. I think it would be one heck of an entertaining game.

Even a less-than-stellar Boise is still probably better than Iowa. Even if not true, that would be the perception and Fresno would get the nod.

That would lead to the ultimate copout by the BCS. NIU and Fresno St. would play each other. They did it to undefeateds Boise St. and TCU a few years ago.

There is no way NIU and Fresno would both be chosen but I just want to see those teams play in a bowl game outside of the BCS. It would make for some must see TV. Can you imagine how high scoring of a game that would be with both offenses liking the lightning fast pace. Good lord the defenses would need oxygen.

I love reading the hopes of the NIU fans. I can not wait to see this season play out. Personally, I see NIU going undefeated before I see Fresno going unbeaten. I don't see the match up in our bowling future.
