Exclamation Is this the year where attendance jumps for Unitas?
I would think we may get a surge in ticket sales over the next week, could this be the year where demand outstrips capacity? With Nova, Delaware and the Dukes at home we have some marquee games which could push interest well past seating capacity. And how could I forget that playoff team with the dungeon? Dungeon boys welcome to your nightmare!

Flyng on Memorial Day sucks. But about this topic, I agree that this should be the year that we sell out every game. The team will be 2-0 by the time they come home for the opener against Del State and that means sellout. I live in TX and will have 4 season tickets again this this as I have for the last 3 since I got a personal call after the 2010 season asking me to buy. I jumped on board after 1-10 and hope that ores will follow suit now.

Perhaps a new AD would target the football alums with a specific season ticket, parking, and tailgate package. To my knowledge we have never done a alumni centric campaign other than an email, perhaps we could even designate a couple sections alumni specific which includes tailgating and access to the Plaza during games that Adam Knepp has done for all the alums in the past couple years. Just a thought:)

I flew in for the JMU game last year and was stunned as to how few TU supporters made the trip. We have to work on the road games as well as the home. If you are an alum within 3 hours of campus and need to be bribed with discounts for a Towson Football ticket that is just friggin sad. Tickets are less than 90 for the season and i paid that for one Texas game last year vs Oklahoma. The department needs cash and giving out discounts isn't going to get us where we need to be. Alums know there are games and I get hit with multiple prompts all of the time. Schedules come out 6 months in advance so not knowing when the games are is a cop out. Go online, by your tickets and get to the game. I am flying in for the games at NC Central and Richmond this year. Support all of the time.

My point was the school should target market the alums with an organized campaign, not so much trying to lure alums with a discount. Having a specific section and organized tailgates may help increase in the interest the existing alumni season ticket base. I would think most alums would still shell out 100 for 2 tickets even if they lived well outside of the Baltimore area if we did a campaign.

I would be excited if we could sell out, not give out, all of the tickets for two games this year and keep a solid student section for the whole game. I wish our fans were more committed to not only fill the stadium for all home games but also to travel to some away games. I was at JMU, Delaware, Villanova and New Hampshire last year and we never took more than a couple of hundred to the UD and Nova games. I was one of about 60 at UNH. Not even all of the parents went. We need more support across the board home and away. That is the sign of a program that is ready to move up.

Well, I can attest that we had about 50 former players gathered together on Borboun and Conte Streets the night before the LSU game. It was a sight to behold for Tiger Fans.

10,300 last night but student section was sold out and some were turned back. I don't quite understand why they couldn't just sit in another section? Looks like the next couple home games could be sell outs. Anyone have some clarity on the student seating issues?

Students sat in the stands behind the home team in 2011 and in the home opener last year. Trouble is they get separated from the other students and feel isolated. My son is a freshman this year and he had a ball last night with his crew - all dressed in black and painted chests. Seeing Unitas Stadium filled is awesome.

So, I have to believe the amount of interest for the Villanova Homecoming game will be off the charts and we now are already at the point where we are maxed out in our stadium with the normal seating. Has anyone heard of any contingencies the school may be considering to accommodate the potential of having 2,000 to 3,000 over the normal seating capacity? I could see this being an even bigger issue if Delaware and JMU go on a nice run into October since they travel well. Nonetheless, it's a good problem to have a demand issue for your product. I would prefer to play JMU in Raven Stadium if the Dukes are in the playoff mix at that point, I could easily see them bringing 4,000 fans or more which means you are talking about something closer to 20,000 to see a Towson home game.

I have heard that there are plans for temp season in both end zones for homecoming. No plans are being discussed for Ravens Stadium and a regular season game from what I have been told.

RE: Is this the year where attendance jumps for Unitas?
I could see a Towson vs JMU game generating close to 20k in attendance if there are playoff implications involved. No way we could do type of attendance in Unitas. I hope we are making contingencies and not turning away 3,000- 4,000 paying customers if there is that kind of interest at the end of the year. With temp seating in the Endzone would that bring us to 12,500? That would still be way too low for an opponent that travels well like JMU or Delaware, again good problem to have and the admin have to realize this is a 20k+school and attendance could jump exponentially with winning programs.

Unitas seats 11,700 so adding PGA Tour type stands in both end zones could add about 2,000 stands in each and bring capacity to 15,700.

dont think we can do that..something about fire code and lack of exits in the stadium. moving the band is the best i think we can do without some minor reconstruction
