These are the kids we need to get. Nevermind the out of state kids, if we can't land Kinston prospects (regularly sprouting D1 players, heck regularly sprouting P5 players) then we have not made it in my opinion.

I am not sure what is in the drinking water on that stretch of US70, but theres a lot of FB/BB players from Kinston, New Bern and Havlock

And some baseball players too (if you count North and South Lenior)

I'd hate to think it was something in the Neuse. That's a scary thought!

If my memory is serving me, the Pirates signed three (or two?) Top 125 players in the mid/late 90's when still in the CAA and w/o the full-time invitation to C-USA in hand.

Since it was pre-CUSA, I don't really recall what all happened with them. I think it was under Joe Dooley. So nice basketball recruiting has happened before.

Kenyatta Brown was rated as high as the 70s by at least one publication. He was a 4 year player and had a solid career. Really started to play well his SR year.

Our highest rated recruit ever imo was a recruit in the same class named Evaldas Jocys. A Lithuanian JUCO who was a consensus top 4 JUCO when that meant something. The top 4 that year were Shawn Marion, Steve Francis, Jocys, and Tucker (I think) the kid that went to Auburn and was their best player on a 2nd seeded sweet 16 squad. Jocys was hurt much of his ECU career, but was rated higher than some of them depending on the evaluation and was a 4 star recruit.

Randy Barnes was in that same class and he was also in the top 100 on some of the rags.

Congratulations, ECU. You went from blowing up an entire conference to signing a 4-star player in just a matter of months. That's progress!

That was Tulane that supposedly blew up the Big East. Supposedly.

Nobody specifically "blew up the Big East". ECU and Tulane were both voted into the conference. The conference since it's inception has been somewhat dysfunctional w/ too many conflicting interests. The split was just a matter of time and if anything chasing "big time college football" while trying to appease a bunch of non-football schools is what destroyed it.

Being that the Big East was built around basketball and not football, it is not hard to understand why the C7 was pissed at watching the conference go to chit.

Here is a NBC article on the Bryant and Tejada commitments; and it also states that BJ Tyson is a 2014 commit, rather than a 2013 commit:

Here is an article detailing a 50 point 35 rebound game by Bryant.
