BTW If ND prints up the Runner Up shirts do they include the score on the t-shirt? BWAAAAAHHHHHH.

42-14! We are #2!

There aren't any runner up shirts or rings anywhere, neither at Hammes nor Wal Mart.

I was just being sarcastic in response to your general jackassery.

I notice that you tried to hijack this thread.

Is that because you have no real retort to Kelly's win/loss record over the last 30 or so games or the fact that he stayed longer at ND than Cincinnati and also just signed a new 5 year deal?

Are you a garden variety, total ND hater or just mad that Kelly left your "Nati" (sic) Bearcats?

Now you're being just plain silly. If "only the winner matters" then every other team in the country should fold up their tents and do home. Other than Alabama, no one was the winner more often than Notre Dame.

It sounds like you have issues.

So when is ND going to start selling National Championship Runner-up t-shirts? Only the winner really matters.

I think that they have them at Hammes Bookstore on campus. Check online if you want to buy some.

Guess Walmart never offered the ND "Runner-up"/"Second Place
shirts" so I suppose most of ND fans weren't aware they were for sale.

If there really are "runner-up" tee shirts, those rank right up there with the Final 5 tees that XU fans wear...

I'd like to finish 2nd in Football. It would have been nice for NC State to have had the opportunity to have had its ass kicked by Bama last year.

We had our one Orange Bowl appearance stolen from us in 1957 due to the recruitment of a basketball player and lost our one good shot for a national title in 1967 with a failed 4th down late in the season at Penn State, losing 13-8.

Second is okay. It beats oscillating between 15 and 50 as we have for the last 45 years.

Lou Holtz used to coach at NC State before he was at ND, so we can fully sympathize with the failure to replace him with successful coaches. Since Holtz, we have had just two successful coaches, one was hired away by LSU, (Bo Rein) the other retired due to colitis (Dick Sheridan). The other four have been lacking in one or more key coaching areas.

ND is set up to be successful at the top 10 level for as long as Kelly is there.

The funny thing is, if the Bearcats ever announce that they are signing Tommy Tubberville to an extension, I will be happy for them and wouldn't try to hijack the thread with snarky comments.

Some people are just different, I guess.

Alabama shut the Tigers out and won by three touchdowns. LSU never crossed the 50 yard line.

Alabama beat ND by 28 and LSU by 21.

At least ND was able to cross midfield a few times and scored two TD's.

I guess LSU's championship appearance "didn't count" either.

There was a lot more to that game than you realize. Several starters were benched because they said they refused to play if Jarrett Lee didn't start so for whatever was going on between Jefferson and Miles' love connection, he cost himself and LSU a National Championship. 2/3rds of their practiced plays weren't ran, and LSU went out to be a sitting duck for Saban. We lost a lot of top recruits because of that too, and some star players decided after that game to leave for the draft.

I'm sorry but teams like 2011 LSU don't go from destroying multiple top 10 teams to not crossing the 50 yrd line more than once in a game against a team they already beat in an away game.

Ranked teams LSU beat in 2011: (rank reflects final ranking)

(Neutral) #4 Oregon, 40-27 (PAC12 Champs, Rose Bowl Champs)
@ #17 WVU, 47-21 (Big East Champs, Orange Bowl Champs)
@ #1 Alabama, 9-6 (BCSNC Champs*)
#5 Arkansas, 41-17 (Cotton Bowl Champs)
(Georgia Dome) #18 UGA, 42-10 (SEC Conference Championship Game)

Dude, I still wear my "2010 Sugar Bowl" and "2009 Orange Bowl" t-shirts all the time. I still wear my "perfect season" UC shirt from 2009 (my friends who aren't UC fans say I should add in the world "regular" in marker).

If ND had a year they should be ashamed of, what should every other fanbase think of itself?

Just getting to an elite bowl is a pretty good accomplishment for a college football program. Darn right they should be proud of it.

This seems like odd timing for an extension to be signed. Why's it being done now?

Helluva football coach though. It remains to be seen whether he's really that good at recruiting, but as far as coaching a team, he's one of the best in the country.

Each team that wins at the Elite 8 to advance to the FINAL 4 gets CHAMPIONSHIP RINGS for making it to the FINAL 4 because they WON their bracket. There are no rings for the team that is a FINAL 4 runner up.

XU created their own FINAL 5 shirt... (FINAL 5 not Final 4) They contrived FINAL 5 due to XU being the last team bounced out of the Elite 8 since they had the latest time slot. So XU made a shirt saying they were in the FINAL 5. There is no FINAL 5, know? The farthest XU won was the Elite 8. Its lame to celebrate the FINAL 5 and fake to boot.

Did ND get National Championship Second Place rings?

I'm sorry but when did this happen? I've never seen one of these shirts EVER. If made they weren't sanctioned by X I can tell you that much.

Glad to see some UC fans actually happy for Kelly. I'm a huge ND fan and X grad, so i always get the blah blah blah brian kelly crys. Hey you all I was in Miami for the N.C. no one felt that pain more than me!

That said. He's a great coach, can't wait until tomorrow night. Considered selling my USC tickets to try and get tickets for tomorrow nights game, but then decided I didn't really want to deal with UM fans this weekend.

Exactly.

I probably bought $200 worth of Merchandise related to the National Championship game. I wear by uNDefeated t shirt, #1rish, and even my NC game t shirts. A loss in the final game of the season doesn't erase a magical season and an incredible run. I'm not about to go throw all that out along with the memories due to one bad game.

Go Irish.

I doubt you would, but based on what I've seen so far, you would see the largest onslaught of Texas Tech trolls since the rodeo came to Lubbock. That's probably a better comparison.

Some people are still bitter that Kelly left, and they should get over it IMO. I'm not one of them, but that's going to happen. I think it was great what he did for our program, and I rooted for ND last year. The only thing I had to be bitter about was leaving us high and dry for the Sugar Bowl.

which I get but for recruiting purposes at his new employer that is what had to happen. He wasn't trying to slight UC but rather to appease his new employer and start ASAP.

I understand it fully, but you can see how bad of a spot that put us in. Maybe it made sense, but it hurt us really bad, so as a UC fan I'm not going to be happy about it. It was just temporary. We recovered and are doing quite well. I would have no issue shaking BK's hand.

The thing that sets you apart from probably 90% of UC fans that complain about is that you UNDERSTAND. Most don't seem to...or don't want to. That said it does seem that BK going to the NC last year was what allowed a lot of those haters to finally move on.

Fans will always be fans. People will always be homers sometimes. Facts of life. Leads to better smack talk at least.
