RE: Helmet removal?????
Okay, the good news is that with all the physical play in the trenches on a very hot and humid day, I did not notice a single player suffer any type of leg injury.

I did not get any look at Bernard as he was way across the field behind dozens of players on the field. For a little added touch I circled the hands for easier viewing but mostly for locating the football.

I actually watched the game and know what happened by seeing the replay, but RWT thinks that the refs didn't think so, so it must not have happened. (not that the refs were anything but impartial at best anyway) I hope RWT doesn't see your photos when you post them.

Blow me, I never said the Florida guy did nothing wrong! The TV replays shown didn't give a good indication of the whole play. However, my gut tells me that the Florida guy shoved him first (possibly in the face/helmet area) and Reedy just got caught with the retaliation as it usually happens to nearly everyone in that situation.

But I really the hope the posted photos are like the ones from the BG game years back when you guys went ape on all the supposed OL holding when you didn't even know the rules that you can actually grab them on the jersey without it always being holding, rendering the photos moot. 03-wink

It's ironic that you posted that. My first thought was "wow, it has been a long time since I've heard that phrase."

Sometimes the oldies are best.

Kind of took me by surprise too though. He should apologize.

Don't hold your breath. He knows it was childish and wrong but chose to compound it instead of manning up. No huge surprise.

Buddy, you don't know me from Adam so drop it. If you care about the truth, I sort of felt bad about saying that and was contemplating editing the post to remove it/change it. However, the thread had slipped down and was just going away as they do, so I chose to just let it pass. However, you decided to make it an issue because you have this knee-jerk reaction to comment on every damned thing I do here instead of just ignoring me.

So I ain't changing it now and I ain't apologizing for it.

It was pretty harmless in the grand scheme of things. Perhaps you need to spend some time on other message boards in the year 2013 and stop being so sensitive. It wasn't even directed at you to begin with!

Sensitive? Six words from me, a novelette from you. And one can conduct themselves with class even if they are on several boards.

I know there's a bit of an argument going on. I'll also say that I didn't get to see the Toledo/FL game, as I was at the Tigers game. But... It wouldn't surprise me a bit if Florida was tugging off helmets. To say that they play feisty and past the whistle, is probably being kind. To say that they can play dirty is sometimes the sad truth.

Argument? 03-wink Yeah, but nothing to do with Fla. Good luck Saturday!

RE: Helmet removal?????
During the Ohio game I saw a Louisville player grab an Ohio player's helmet and rip it off. I don't know if the Ohio player then had to sit out. But that's what I expected to happen when they put that rule in. Someone is going to get hurt from these players ripping helmets off, as obviously the refs are not seeing it, or don't want to see it.

On another note, NIU had a 15-yard penalty called on them for facemask near the end of the Iowa game, which could have been critical. Too bad it wasn't a facemask, it just looked like one in real time. The replay showed otherwise. Luckily it didn't matter.

It does pretty much beg for the D to grab them.

RE: Helmet removal?????
From what I recall, the player shouldn't have to come out for a play if the helmet doesn't come off on its own. That said, the refs can only catch half of this stuff and there doesn't ever seem to be a penalty called for ripping a helmet off. That should be a serious penalty since another player is put at risk. Wouldn't be surprised if it is now being taught from time to time. Like someone said, lets tighten up those chin straps!
