How to introduce a recruit?
I have a cousin who plays ball in West Virgina. Sr. in high school. He has been really great for his team for every year he has played. Two way player including special teams. WR/LB/Safety/LS/KR. Last night he opened the season with a receiving TD, a pick, and a long return.

Now, I honestly have no idea if he is a big fish in a small pond(quite possible) or if he is a guy that would be solid enough to get some sort of look from the finest damn institution in the land. My question is, if he is under the radar(which being in a WV town a few hours away is entirely possible) how would I best give him at least a heads up with our coaches? He will actually be in town for the UNCC game.

Thoughts?

I believe there is a form that can be submitted online through jmusports.com under the football section if you wanted to go semi-official route. Otherwise I know of other who have just emailed the coaches directly in the past.

Sounds like a good start then. Just send it directly to the coaches?

Cool. Will do. Now to find out how much tape he has and such. I figure it can't hurt. Thanks for the info.

RE: How to introduce a recruit?
Hopefully his high school uses the "Hudl" program, or something like it. If so, you can send film (clips or a full half or an entire game) directly to college coaches. The college coach will be able to view the film immediately. In the three years since our program has used Hudl, we have gotten more kids to play college football than the ten years before that combined (same exact talent level). I think its mostly because it is so quick and easy for the college coach to look at each kid.

Don't be afraid to have your cousin ask his H.S. coach to call or email the schools that he is interested in. Most times, a call from the varsity coach will go further than just a call from a parent.

Will do. He is at this small school and I hope they have enough of his film put together right. I don't know that he really has enough for this level, but it never hurts to at least have folks take a look.

WR for JMU? Make sure to include some blocking clips. That was going to be a slight at MM but now I'm serious, coaches will love clips showing he doesn't take run plays off.

I'm not sure if it has changed in the last couple years but it was extremely easy to get into the APC and go see the FB secretary. (top of stairs, hallway to the right). If you are in town on any day but a Saturday walk in and hand it directly too her. I think that is fair game.

Find his best footage from last year and get it together now then send an updated film every few games. His coach probably already has the game footage in short clips from film studies.

I don't know the stats but I am getting them from him. He plays pretty well at defensive back too. He is a real high motor kind of kid and has no qualms about laying into a guy that outweighs him. So, we will see I guess.

RE: How to introduce a recruit?
The coach of the team probably keeps film on "Hudl". Ask him if he does and if so, he can select plays (each play is automatically numbered) and when he selects all that he wants, he can create a highlight video pretty easily.
