Those 1969 Memphis State uniforms were more like Auburn's with the orange stripe on the shoulders and down the middle of the helmet.

I loved those uniforms. Still do.

They would have been fine except for the reddish orange. That was a very good team in 1969 (my senior year) - finished 8-2 and played strong at the end of the season. Naturally, Bud Dudley's Liberty Bowl avoided us like the plague.

Edit: not a bad schedule that year. That was the year Spook ran it up on Corso. It backfired the next 3 years when the Cards kicked our butts
