Yes, you emphasize VERY LIMITED like it's more or less 6 or 7....maybe we're overreacting, but it'll be interesting to see if people that want them can get them.

I emphasize it so if you get there at 6:15 and don't get a program you don't yell at me. I don't know the exact amount but its a couple hundred, not thousands.

I'd never yell at you, but I'm definitely heading there first thing when I get in the gates...

Thanks for jumping in the thread and helping us out.

What good does that do on gameday???

Am I supposed to carry my iPad into every home game now?

Game staff will be wearing QR codes for anyone to easily access with their smartphones.

But you have people who don't have smartphones...

Which is why there is a limited amount at the Guest Services booths in the lower and upper concourse for $5.

Best way to save paper... make the programs out of plastic. Problem solved!

Doesn't the advertisers in the magazine easily cover the cost of printing the damn things?

No.

It does if you have the right corporate sales staff. Maybe look at different qtys, size of program, etc...you can have various pages that stay the same throughout the season and pages that change for each game...you def can cover the costs...or your printer is sticking it to you!

RE: No Gameday Programs???
I would go with the "green" excuse vs a cost excuse. You could print a yearbook, a one-time book and have a one page insert with the other teams roster...charge $5. A lot of variables could be played with to cover costs and make at least a small profit.

No.

Seriously? How much does it cost to print those things? They are littered with one advertiser after another.

Hell, all I really want is the rosters page anyway. Black and white is fine with me.

RE: No Gameday Programs???
Tired of reading all the posts.....

JMU has done many things with the programs through the years. They've gone back and forth with paying for them. I kinda remember one year they went to a DNR free program but perhaps that was in addition to the JMU program.

My son LOVES the game day program, and I like them a lot myself. I don't know all the players at the start of the season, so it's nice to have a program to get to know the players. Also nice to have a little info about the visiting team during pregame. Yes, all the same stuff is available on line but what a pain in the butt.... By the time I find someone's number on my iphone the next play will have gone off.

I know some people think since they don't use them, they are not a big deal. A lot of people don't go to football games so perhaps it would not be a big deal to cancel them to, or make them only available on line.

Just charge for them. I'll pay two or three dollars for them, and advertisers will pay to be in them.

Let's not be cutting edge on reducing the game day experience.

High Schools have football programs, but JMU can't? Give me a break.

I'll print off copies and bring them to the game. Oh joy.......

RE: No Gameday Programs???
Oh great, I go to print it out and find it's 84 pages. This is ridiculous. Perhaps I should spend 20 minutes going through determining what pages to print.

Could you imagine a pro-team without a hard program? This takes away from the game day experience for a lot of us.

Every time JMU makes one of these bone head decisions, all the other bone head stuff of the last few years starts running through my head. Perhaps we're saving money so we can better monitor our peer schools move to 1A, or perhaps we're saving money to bid for a home playoff game.

Just charge for the programs. It would not of cost JMU a dime....

We made it over a day with no complaints about the programs. Did everyone survive without their program or with the program they paid a few bucks for? Did we forget about it already? Good.

RE: No Gameday Programs???
I would have preferred to have one. I didn't see where any were being sold but didn't actively go looking for one either.

It's still pretty stupid that we can't even at least print a one-page roster card with a couple of advertisers on it to cover the cost. We don't have to have a full fledged magazine. It's pretty stupid to tell the fans to print an 84 page PDF in advance too.

JMU has seats to sell and fill. They should make the gameday experience nice and easy for the fans instead of making something simple become a pain in the ass. My 2 cents.
