RE: UConn and South Alabama go Down
Key word being eventually. I think they'll drop the game to Chatty but beat Jacksonville St. They're a market team with market aspirations, but they are years from consistently competing in their own league, let alone in their own market.

But they were a bad FCS team just last year, and -- at least from a competitive standpoint -- they made the jump about 3 yrs too soon. Obviously, the Sun Belt decided they needed a team in Atlanta right now, after all the defections to C-USA.
There are some schools that should have never tried IA. GA State is one of them. They are going to have the same problem Tulane has had for years. Playing in an NFL stadium that is just way to big for them.

Chattanooga looked awful yesterday in a loss to UT Martin. I would give GA State a better shot at beating The MOCS instead of Jacksonville State.

When Georgia State was debating whether to add scholarship football about 5-6 years ago, I was definitely in the camp that thought it was a bad idea. Georgia State, historically, has been the inner-city commuter school par excellence, and there was simply no constituency connected with the school that wanted or needed FBS-level football. They should've emphasized MBB and WBB and maybe baseball and soccer.
With all that said, I do wish them well, and now that Georgia State has made the decision, I do think they can eventually achieve modest success. The series with Georgia Southern could become something special if things unfold the right way. Kind of a poor man's version of the Georgia/Georgia Tech rivalry...

It's distinctly possible...if the earth opens up and swallows Boise, Idaho whole. Fresno State should still have a nice season though.
Late final from the West Coast -- Washington 38, Boise State 6.
FYI.

This.
