If what Tulsa put on the field last night is the best they've got, its gonna be a long year if you're a Tulsa fan.

No way they pull a USM though. UTSA is on the schedule. (Sorry had to take that jab UTSA fans 04-cheers )

The way Tulsa looked last night I doubt they could even beat UL-L but apparently neither could ECU 05-stirthepot

How cute. Smack from a school that is built on solid wins such as Texas A&M Commerce. Lookout CUSA, UTSA is taking over... 03-lmfao

No attendence rebuttle. I'm shocked. 07-coffee3

I think that if one of those things happens, the other one necessarily happened.

Yep that is an easy win (basically a forfeit) and an extra bye week for Tulsa.

That's a team that returns something like 18-19 starters after winning eight games last year. There is no harm in this loss. I know some pundits were talking about there being a chance that they pull the upset over Mississippi State in Starkville later this year.

RE: Tulsa Fans - What happened?
Coach Blankenship knows that Tulsa must have a QB that can air out the ball accurately, weather he will admit it or not. About 87% of the veteran players we had last year are gone. No longer have them to shore up Green's deficiency's. Coach said Green will start next game. If it continues along the same vein as the last game. Coach will have to man up and get the backup QB in the game who can make all the throws. Just doesn't have much experience. Would rather have someone who can throw but will make some mistakes learning. Than someone who can't throw the ball, and Tulsa will wind up losing games looking bad doing it.

I'm ok with saying we just got flat out beaten by a better football team. They outplayed us in every aspect of the game.

RE: Tulsa Fans - What happened?
BG laid out the blueprint to beat Tulsa this year. Put 8-10 men in the box, blitz constantly. Force Green to run or pass. True its not all Green. We have a very young and still learning Oline that has yet to learn how to run or pass block. BG coach came up with a defensive plan that forced Green to do the things he was worst at. That is throwing on the run and setting quickly and burning the defense by throwing vertically down field. Everyone and I mean everyone will will doing the same things against Tulsa this season if their defensive coaching staff is competent or until we get someone on the field that can make the opposing defenses pay. The solution get someone who is mobile and can throw on the run, or setup and throw quickly over the defense. That is not Green's style sorry. Being honest.

RE: Tulsa Fans - What happened?
Besides Tulsa's horrible QB play, special teams failures were a huge part of the loss.

Tulsa's special teams mistakes :
- 2 missed field goals ( both from around 35 yds.)
- botch fake punt @ our own 16...led to BG TD
- BG 68 yd punt return for TD
- Tulsa fumbles punt inside 10 yd line...led to BG TD

Special teams mistakes cost Tulsa 27 points. Tulsa lost by 27.

BG defense played well & they earned the victory, but Tulsa played horribly in 2 of the 3 phases of the game, offense & special teams.

RE: Tulsa Fans - What happened?
Something I haven't seen anyone else mention is that Watts had 4 touches on offense and spent large stretches of the game in the locker room getting fluids. Douglas is a good back but he needs some room to get going, Watts can often make his own room. Even with the anemic offense it was 6-0 at half (should have been 6-6 if not for the chip shot misses) and 13-0 late in the 3rd. The team just kind of wore out in the 4th. If they can get the QB spot squared away there should be much better play.

We're gonna be fine.

It's one game. It sucks.

Beat CSU and ISU and start conference play at 2-2 and all is forgiven.

I kept waiting for the sweep from Douglas lined up in the slot. I also think some of those short crossing pass plays that SMU masters would help out our running game as well.

In that game the RB's had no room to do anything, they were shutdown with all the defensive players in the box.

RE: Tulsa 7 - Bowling Green 34
Thinking about it I am beginning to think that the playbook has been stripped down to a vanilla set of plays because the Oline is so green and hasn't gelled yet. May not see things like sweeps and stuff until well into the season.
