Possiable first sellout
As of this morning the Eagles only had around 931 tickets left to sell for this Saturdays game. Due to the stadium expansion Georgia Southern has had to cut the number of standing room tickets sold at Paulson stadium.
Quote:STATESBORO, Ga. – Only 931 tickets for the general public remain for Saturday's football season opener against Savannah State in Paulson Stadium, the Georgia Southern Department of Athletics announced today.

Due to the high demand for tickets and the limited space because of construction, general admission grass tickets will not be sold for this game. Fans can purchase reserved tickets by calling the Georgia Southern ticket office at 1-800-GSU-WINS or by going online at GSEagles.com.

Students can still pick up tickets at the Pep Rally at Paulson Stadium Friday night from 5-9 p.m. at the Gate 4 ticket window. Students can also pick up tickets at Gate 4 on game day, beginning four hours before kickoff.

In the past Georgia Southern has sold a large number of same day walk up tickets.

Is it because of the move to FBS?

No stadium expansion but I feel it will be good for the eagles to help increase season ticket sales . A high number of fans have made the choice to not buy season tickets in the past due to it being easy to just buy a ticket at the gate on game day.

Considering it is Savannah St coming into town, should have a good crowd from the visiting team as well. What is the seat count now while construction is going on??? I love to see full stadiums, you guys and App St are worth the add just for the crowds. Of course your history doesn't hurt either. 04-cheers

officially 18000 seats, the may sell standing room only for the last grass hill left. We had a number of people drop their season tix because they disagree with move (some because of funds), but we still had a 6% increase overall.
The home schedule is very weak this year and with the construction and "nothin to play for" mentality so our season average will be lower this year.

We averaged a little over 20,000 last season. That number will surely drop this season due to the transition year, a weak home schedule and construction which may cap attendance at 18k or a little more.

The university listed Paulson at 18,000 before the expansion started even thought there were only somewhere around 14,000 -15,000 actual seat. When the upper deck is completed before next year the actual seat count will be some where around 20,000 to 21,000.

In the past GA tickets had been sold where fans sat on the grass in all four corners of the stadium and also the endzone where the new building is going.

RE: Possiable first sellout
Ironically, it might be our first sell out...but it'll be one of our smallest crowds in the last several years due to the limited number of tickets that can be sold due to the stadium construction.
