Iowa Fans
After everything I've read on this board about the fans in Iowa, I must say, they were some of the best fans I've ever incountered. While walking to the stadium we asked a group of tailgaters if we could stand under their canopy for a few minutes to rest and they insisted we have a beer with them and eat some food. They all introduced themselves and wanted to chat about where we were from. They also respected the Huskies and were excited for a good game. In the stadium the few Iowa fans in the NIU section were very nice and even offered us to take a water from their cooler if we needed one. I only encounter one drunk guy who told me Huck the Fuskies, but I knew he'd be crying later. A few Hawkeyes fans even said they were sad to see the series between the two teams end and liked the "rivalry".

I hope the rest of you Huskies had a great time yesterday and met some good people. 04-cheers

RE: Iowa Fans
I had sort of mixed bag. There were no issues tailgating but inside it was different. The people immediately next to us were very nice. Gave us some water and talked to us the whole game. But the people a row in front of us and a row behind us were extremely rude and arrogant. Needless to say they left immediately and were still being rude.

I was pretty disappointed the Iowa team didn't shake hands, a bit unsportsmanlike. Like I said a mixed bag. You will get that a lot of places though.

RE: Iowa Fans
The few Iowa fans I met were nice, didn't have any issues with them or the other Iowa fans sitting around me.

Only 4 toolbags at the game that security brought in reinforcements to watch them.

RE: Iowa Fans
Mixed bag for me as well. All the trouble we had - and there was some - was with the younger fans. The "older" fans - my age and up - were very nice and hospitable. I almost felt like they went out of their way to make up for the knuckleheads. That said, you're on the road and gotta expect the BS.

Re: Iowa Fans
Night and day compared to last two games with them. Not sure why so different but we all consistently agreed that we got so much more respect this year than the last two years combined

RE: Iowa Fans
Iowa fans were very friendly. in fact, i tailgated with an ex coworker (iowa alum) and his iowa friends so i have nothing but good things to say. of course there was a d-bag Iowa fan in the stadium trying to start trouble, but he was nowhere to be found when we WON the game!

RE: Iowa Fans
We hung around the locker room and waited for the players to board the bus, so it was a while before we headed back to our car. Wasn't much of post game scene, which really surprised me. I mean nothing in the lots or yards. So awesome that the Huskies crashed the party - literally. I guess everyone with their "we cheer for beer" shirts was already long gone.

I think most groups of fans are about the same. The loud minority can make the normal majority look bad, it just depends on your luck whether you're next to the loud minority or not.

RE: Iowa Fans
In reading the Iowa forums they weren't crazy about losing to a MAC team but generally gave us a lot of respect.

All of the Iowa fans at tailgating were friendly & respectful. Nothing like I expected & it was nice to hang out & tailgate with them.

I suppose they are getting used to it.
