RE: Fleck.....
Does anybody think Fleck might have went off the deep end after he lost his child? 100% serious question.

I think there's some truth in that. He's become even more super-positive than usual (to a sickening degree) to cover up the pain. I have known some people who have been through devastating tragedies who immediately smile, laugh, and get giddy as if nothing happened. It is their way of covering up or not acknowleding the tragedy. To each his own.

After learning about this tragedy I would agree, something is not right.

He lost a close friend in a car accident when he was a SR in HS too.

its not just being positive for his own sake, but for the sake of his family too. i believe he does have an older child that he would have had to be strong for....

LOL...

Nov. 26 @ NIU - Lynch, at home, in his final game in the wind tunnel. I'm just going to stop there. Chance of win: 0.01%

There are many things in life I can overcome but losing a child would change me for life if not end my life as I know it. I poke fun and judge to quickly, need to work on that. I feel for PJ if this is the case.

Beat Idaho.

Absolutely. If that was the reason I think anybody could sympathize with it, and I'm probably his harshet critic.

RE: Fleck.....
I went to high school with Chris Finlen and Kevin Selover, and was very fond of PJ when I met him and his wife (girlfriend at the time) at NIU. Based on what I've seen from him this year, it seems out of character from the guy I met. The job may have something to do with that, maybe his son, but who knows. I really do wish him well. I know a lot of people got on him after he bailed on the coaching job here, but let's be honest, if the NFL came calling with all of that money not one person here would turn it down. I'm sure he wishes that NFL opportunity came 1 day earlier too. You know, he could have stayed on as an OC and not had his head or heart where it belonged, and it would have ended up worse than it did. In any case, he will always hold a spot in my memory as making the greatest touchdown catch I've ever seen live (NFL or college): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72ZF8T90klc

Good post to put things in perspective. While the whole "boat" thing is a little odd, we should remember that Fleck was a great NIU player who did go pro, albeit for a short time.
Normally that would be bragging rights for NIU. He's currently the youngest FBS coach, so good for him.
He could have another 40 years in football ahead of him, and who knows, he could right the ship(sorry) at WMU and move on to bigger and better things, like all successful MAC coaches.
I have a friend here who used to play for WMU, so I follow the team. I hope Fleck does well there, except against the Huskies, of course.
