You can win with the kid but you won't against good teams. If he is the starter, add 2 Ls to whatever you expect the final record to be. He still locks on to only one receiver from the snap. Stop the presses if he ever has his first progression. Rolling him out and dinking and dunking a D that is slow to react helps him at least

He made one really great throw on the crossing route today and several that were lucky to not end up like that hot mess on his first attempt.

It seems pretty clear to me that wasn't what today was about. You don't play Kay in garbage time if you are trying to preserve him. I take CTT at his word when he says that Kay had a slight edge going down the stretch, but with Munchie taking most of the practice snaps lately he felt more comfortable with that continuity.

I don't know what that means going forward, but I'm extremely happy today for the program and Munchie in particular - especially after all the crap he has taken from the coaches in the stands and/or at their keyboards.

After he lost his starting spot, I was genuinely hoping Munchie would transfer this year.

I don't care about his performance today -- they could've run the single wing and beaten Purdue today, I think -- I'd be very happy if Munchie never took another snap for the Bearcats.

Take this for what you will -- I'd heard last week that Kay was a lot less healthy than was being publicly disclosed and that Munchie would be a good bet to start due to that.

I also heard that Coney's "mental" aspects are not sharp. The source seemed to indicate that the team is not happy at all with his progress in that regard.

Coney's situation is what is most disappointing to me. Coney , Kay and Munchie all started learning this offense at the same time right? And you have to think that coney is physically ahead of Munchie so the mental aspect must be pretty bad. Good thing Gunner Kiel will be ready next year.

Even if there were, board policy is not to discuss injuries before official announcements.

I thought the Big O was #12?

O was #12 with the Bearcats, #14 with the Royals, and #1 with the Bucks.

UC needs fans. But don't need fans like you. Go back to your couch and beer and keep convincing yourself you know something....anything....about football.

So the kid is 9-3 as a starter, took getting boo'd and benched last year in stride (he was very supportive of Kay when Kay was named the starter last year), worked hard to improve, has a ton of heart and has the respect of his team. And yet you say these things about him?

As someone on the UC 247 board said, Munchie did what you would want your own son to do...suck it up, shake it off, and compete.

This year is starting out very similar to last year. A lot of people buying in with a couple people saying that Munchie will struggle against better competition.

We did win 42-7 but Munchie did not win the game for us. His numbers were not good and I don't think anyone would say that he passed the eyeball test. He's the same QB as last year which has me very worried. A Toledo type loss this year would be devastating.

With everything UC football has going for it I was really hoping this would not be an issue this year.

Don't get me wrong Beer....I think Kay (when 100%) is the better qb. He can really throw the deep ball, isn't afraid to run and I am more comfortable with Kay in the lineup for sure. But Munchie can help us win, is 9-3 as starter and the fact is gives us a very good back up qb...a back up qb a lot of other programs would LOVE to have as back up. That said I don't wish he would transfer. And I don't think ripping him etc is the right call. That was the point of my thread. In my book he has earned some level of respect.

Munchie scored the first td on 10 yard run. He led drive after punt debacle to regain momentum sealing it with a bullseye pass to Annan for td. He also had some guys with drops and I thought pass to Moore down the sideline was complete.....his numbers should have been better than what they ended up being.

I don't care who starts like some on here. But I don't care for the negative fans who think they know more than Tuberville and Hinson and gran....and knock a bearcat player. What kind of fan is that?

I concur. Munchie is a Bearcat, and a heck of a football player. Great win yesterday.

In CTT I trust.

He won the SEC. I'm pretty sure he knows what he's doing.

If he went with Munchie over Kay I'm sure he had a reason (or reasons) for doing so.

Now please sideline the QB debate and enjoy the Boilermaker beat down!

Who was the last football bearcat to draw the levels of hate and vitriol that Munchie does? Chad Plummer?!? Lol, real talk though some of it is honestly sad. The kid isn't the best quarterback, everybody knows that already. The kid has graded out A+ in his handling of last years debacle/demotion, didn't put his head down and sulk, didn't transfer out like others have. Went and worked his butt off to win games for the bearcats. I want brendon to be the quarterback but if he's not gonna be I'm gonna pull like heck for Munchie

Why did Munchie cut his dreads? Is it a "Sampson in Reverse" situation?

RE: Tuberville may be leaning toward Kay as UC QB
Everyone needs to relax !....From what I saw yesterday, I'll say we are in good hands with this staff....Munchie did a great job, and I saw what I expected to see.
As long as he can operate within his comfort zone he will be fine !
Tubbs isn't going to ask any more of him. JMHO here, but we will need a 100% healthy Kay to defeat the likes of RU and UL. He has the ability to stretch the field, which makes our offense more dynamic, and harder to defend.
Munchie will be allowed to go down field on occasion with a 30 yard plus passing attempt, but that will be tempered by The OC.
Until then I don't see anyone on our schedule who makes that big of a difference as to whose playing QB... I want both guys healthy, and available this whole season.
Have no idea what occurred with Buj yesterday, and if I did I wouldn't be running my mouth about it anyway :)
The most exciting thing I observed yesterday was the play calling on both sides of the ball !....WOW !!!! A staff that actually makes adjustments DURING the game, instead of making ill fated attempts at the half 04-chairshot
Nick Temple has really matured, and Blair & Luc are going to get even better.
Loved the unbalanced fronts DC utilized to screw with Purdues Oline protections.
Good use of the zone blitzing as well.
Anyone else think Keebler is a beast ?...Kid was jacked yesterday, and blew some people up!...D. Bond is the real deal boys...you can take a sigh of relief that even though we have lost Dan Sprague, this kid is going to step in big time!
Illinois, will be intriguing ?
