Yes, you're never going to believe this but a large portion of our students don't agree with the homosexual life style.

However, they are not the policy makers at the university which follows federal requirements for treating GLBT students equally.

As a conservative, I dislike their lifestyle and get tired of having it shoved my throat. Equally, I dislike all groups who want to segregate themselves especially after blacks fought so hard to end segregation.

All hell would break loose with liberal college professors and the likes of Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and Quanell X if white/hetero students tried to form a white/hetero club. It's a double standard and it pisses me off.

Sorry for the rant. Continue on.

I had no idea sexual orientation was a life style. Tired of having it shoved down your throat? That's an odd choice of words.

I consider it a lifestyle because I think its a choice those individuals make. I honestly don't believe and will never believe that people are born attracted to the same sex. It goes against human nature and our ability to reproduce.

I agree, obviously it was a poor choice of words. Let me put it bluntly, I'm tired of hearing about how they deserve this and how they deserve that. I think its crap.

Again, sorry for the rant.

I didn't know sexuality was a choice. At what age did you chose yours and what factors went into your decision?

you're tired of hearing about how other Americans think they deserve equal rights under the law? I'm sorry to hear that.

I find it odd that you're using the fact that it's one of the only universities in the country that doesn't bend over backwards to support one political party, to argue AGAINST that university. I consider it a huge step forward in academic freedom.

Re: OP

I really didn't expect UC to be at the top of this list. Guess my alma matter is doing even better than I thought. 04-cheers

I am curious, though, how a federal funding standard would be applied. Will it result in more Pell grants for students at those schools? Although it will help the students, it won't help the schools all that much. Will it impact research funding? That would be great for UC, Arizona, TAMU, and Maryland because that's a much bigger line item than tuition for those schools. But it won't affect the other schools on the list much, and I don't see it happening anyways. Or will it impact something else?

It just seems like there's not much room for the feds to act that will benefit the schools on this list.

From what I can tell, the alumni seem to get jobs in my region (Mid-Atlantic) - and they're often not quite the hicks that you'd expect them to be.

You've never been to Morgantown on gameday 05-stirthepot

Some friends and I will watch Texas Tech play in Morgantown this season. Really looking forward to it. Oh, we're spending a few days at a fishing lodge before game day so that ramps-up our anticipation just a little bit! 04-rock
I hope you have a great time in Morgantown.
Please report back to the board about all the attrocities that occur during your stay.
In all seriousness I have been a season ticket holder for over 20 years and have seen a total of 3 incidents that embarassed me as a WVU fan.
I traveled to many away games when WVU was in the BE and found that if you aren't looking for trouble most fanbases are gracious hosts.

These rankings will be officially set by a group of federal bureaucrats. Maybe they will put Lois Lerner in charge.

So how long until we hear that the ratings are manipulated such that conservative leaning colleges get put at the bottom?

As always, when govt gets involved, only two things can happen: chaos and political opportunism.

Where are you going fishing? You might want to try Summersville Lake while you're in West Virginia. It's a little over an hour south of Morgantown on US19 (take I-79 south to US19), about 30 minutes north of the New River Gorge Bridge. It's the largest lake in the State of West Virginia, fed by trout streams, well stocked, and very deep. The water is clear and clean, without sediment, and the cliffs around the lake extend well over 200 ft. below the water line in many areas. There are spots on the lake where the water is over 500 ft. deep. There's good fishing on Summersville Lake and some beautiful scenery. You might want to check it out...
