Since then, I think they've won 14 straight. Some of the games have been close, like the last one in 2010 in Lubbock.

Primetime ESPN on Friday night on opening weekend without any real competition on = the nation will be watching. This game is a chance for our new conference to start with a bang.

We can do this! Come on Garrett, show us a 5* performance and the rest will fall into place. I think both defenses will suffer, but our offense will be better.

I have a bad feeling about this one, but it would be HUGE to kick of the year with a win over a solid P5 program.

I don't expect fast starts from June Jones coached teams. He has an abysmal record in openers.

When was the last time we started a Senior QB in the opening game with JJ?

Not sure that we have ever done that yet - it should help with the typical slow starts we have had over his tenure.

Past openers featured:
@Baylor - Gilbert, then a Junior transfer playing in his first game in a new system after should surgery
@Texas A&M - Padron, a Junior, quickly benched after 2 early pics in favor of JJ McDermott
@Texas Tech - Padron, a soph ( 3 picks and we still only lost by a TD)
SFA - Bo Levi Mitchell, a soph

Even though college FB is all about winning conference games, I'd trade a later win against UCF or Houston for a convincing win on Friday night on ESPN.
