PS4 has likely won this console round
1) Microsoft crapped all over their customers with DRM and then had to (unconvincingly) backtrack in the midst of a non-stop PR crapstorm.

2) The PS4 should be more powerful.

3) The PS4 is $100 less.

4) The PS4 won't ship with an uber-creepy always-on webcam and microphone that Microsoft has already detected can detect your pulse, and for which Microsoft has already patented detecting the age/sex of people in the room, listening to their conversations, identifying objects in the room ... and then serving them relevant advertising/game content. Microsoft willingly gave the NSA a back door into all Skype calls. Think the NSA won't be able to use that too?

5) This, to me, is the unsung biggie after #1 ... the XBox is DirectX and the PS4 is OpenGL. That means you should, with careful design, be able to make a game for the PS4, Linux, Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android with VERY minimal porting work. OpenGL is an open and universal 3D graphics standard. With DirectX you get Windows and XBox ... and maybe Windows Phone.

That being said ....... PC is still the clear winner. The PS4 is $399.99 and requires monthly subscription for multiplayer. The XBox is $499.99 and requires monthly subscription for multiplayer. A $400 PC with a $200 graphics card will play ANY game on the market at 1080p at a high frame rate. It will look WAY better and perform WAY better than the current consoles. And not only will that machine just play video games ... it will do everything else you want. Surf the web. Curate you media content. Watch media in any format. Email. Office apps. Etc. Steam requires no subscription for multiplayer, and games on Steam (particularly during Steam sales) are just a fraction of the cost of what they are on Playstation or Xbox.

Hopefully. In light of all this stuff about Windows 8.1 sending Microsoft information about locally performed searches, non-optional DRM, and an installed backdoor, Microsoft deserves to rot and die.

RE: PS4 has likely won this console round
This is the first time I have seriously considered buying a Playstation. The 360 treated me well for years and when they decided to do away with all that stupid **** I'm feeling like they won me over. I haven't decided but I'm probably getting the new Xbox.
