For all FIU fans pulling for us, thanks! I'm sure we won't mind y'all borrowing some FAU shirts for the night!
Hell no! We still hate you, we just hate them more.

Owls looking for Balance
http://www.fauowlsnest.com/news/view/foo...m?filter=*
FAU offensive coordinator Brian Wright knows that if his team is going to upset Miami, it's going to take some sizable gains.
Last year when the Owl's faced Georgia and Alabama, the team managed just four plays of 20 yards or more in the two losses. Wright is looking for more of a spark in his offense on Friday night, and a harmony in his play calling will be crucial.
"I think we have to be able to hit some big plays," Wright said. "We have to be balanced. There is no way that you can be one dimensional against a group like this."
Miami brings a free-flying defense to the table, and Wright is hoping to execute his offense to near-perfection. Greg Hankerson and Jaquez Johnson are both expected to lineup at quarterback and a handful of other skill personnel will get touches out of the backfield.
"We have four guys right now, and possibly five that could touch the ball at running back – and they all bring us different things," Wright said.

That's honestly probably the way to beat us. Big plays tend to be bad news for our defense, just the ones that look like they could be... I'm sure the defense will be heaps better than it was last year, but I think you guys have a good chance to put some points up.
On the other hand, Miami has probably one of the best QB-RB duos in the country and they have only gotten better. If they can tear up teams like VT (whole game), FSU (first half), NCSU (whole game) last year, they should be virtually unstoppable this year. I'm not that well-versed on FAU's defense, but I doubt they have defenders who can go head-to-head in comparison to top ACC teams and out-play them. Maybe a couple but not nearly enough to stop the Miami offense.
Personally hoping it isn't that close, but I wouldn't mind as long as Miami wins. (Don't hate me!) Like I've said, FAU - I'll root for ya against anyone NOT Miami or MT - is a good program and I've had nothing but good relations with their fans. I came up for the basketball games last year and had a blast. I have good friends here at Miami who are FAU fans (cheering for the []_[], 'cause we're supposed to be really good this year, but grew up as FAU fans) and they are committed and motivated.
Really looking forward to the game. Hope I can actually make it and not stay home with a bug that I'm trying to fend off! One question - how many fans do you think FAU will bring? Have you sold your allotment? I think for "smaller" games it's probably less than 10,000. I know we game Florida about 12k. 'See' y'all Friday, I hope...

Now that's called being between a rock and a hard place. I feel for ya'. Just make sure to wear FIU colors; if not the logo, blue and gold.

FAU vs UM The Guide.
http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/um-hu...7173.story
Where: Sun Life Stadium, Miami Gardens
TV: ESPNU 8 p.m. EST [Watch online link]
Weather: 84 degrees, wind: 6 mph to south, 10 percent chance of rain, 65 percent humidity.
Quick Slant: Friday marks the first-ever matchup between the two South Florida programs. Miami, with ACC championship aspirations, is eying an emphatic win to start the season. An FAU win would inarguably be the largest in program history.
About UM: The Hurricanes start the season outside of the Top 25, but with quarterback Stephen Morris and running back Duke Johnson returning to Coral Gables, expectations are high for the Hurricanes in 2013. A strong offensive line allows one of the nation’s better offenses do work, but the team will go as far as it’s much-maligned defense takes them.
About FAU: The Owls enter the second season of the Carl Pelini era looking to build off a 3-9 season. FAU is moving to a read-option spread offense, but will still rely on wide receiver and Dillard grad William Dukes to burn defenses over the top. The Owls boast secondary and linebacker cores that compare strongly against the nation’s mid-major teams.

I'm pretty excited. We should have a pretty good crowd for this one. I still haven't heard any rumblings about how many tickets FAU has sold to the game. Usually we have between 8-10k students and this year we have 30k+ season tickets. Assuming FAU brings a sizable number (10k, I would expect, considering distance) and adding in walk-up crowd I think we could have a nice crowd (50-60k) on hand.
I'm under the weather lately, so I'm really hoping that I can muster up the energy and start feeling good enough to go. Any idea on tix sales, OwlFamily? They haven't said crap here.

Not a great way to start.
Five suspended for FAU's season opener at Miami
http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/fau-o...7396.story
FAU will be without five players for Friday night's season opener at Miami.
FAU coach Carl Pelini suspended wide receiver Daniel McKinney, tight end Darion Howard, running back Damian Fortner, defensive tackle Lance Burlingame and longsnapper Stephen Curtis for an unspecified violation of team rules. The suspension's length is indefinite.
McKinney and Howard were both pegged to start Friday's game.
