College Football Poll CUSA Prediction
http://www.collegefootballpoll.com/analysis_cusa.html

North Texas' forecast is particularly worth watching as the computer's preseason forecast has nailed the Mean Green record 10 times since 1995, including 4 years straight from 2007-2010. It has only missed its mark by 1 game on 5 other occasions, including the last 2 years. UNT hasn't been picked to do this well since 2004 when a 9-2 forecast became a 7-4 reality. The program hasn't been predicted to win, and has not won, more than 5 games in a season since then.

Putting Tech dead last in the conference is pure bogus.

Not necessarily bogus. These new teams sure have high expectations.

I'll be happy with a 6-6 record for UTSA!

That's because UNT actually has an extremely solid roster that people aren't seeing because when they see UNT they just automatically assume that we suck.

I would hesitate to pick any team with Kenneth Dixon to finish in last place. Tulane plays @Ruston on September 12th and I would feel very lucky if we come away with the W.

That said, Tech does have a new coaching staff and did lose a lot of key players from last year's team. That can hurt.

I expect Tech will play much more conservatively on offense this year, and any defense at all will be an improvement from last year. A record of about 6-6 is what I expect.

Watch out....Some Marshall fans are going to lose their minds over this preseason prediction. Looks about right to me for sure, except one game...04-cheers

It will interesting to see how things work out this season under Holtz. He was money at ECU in close ball games, seems like we pulled most every close out, especially his last couple of seasons here...I think he may have used up all of his luck in close games at ECU because he could not buy one at USF.

On a different note this part of the article really stings:

"The computer ranks Conference USA as the worst in college football in 2013, even slightly behind the Sun Belt. And it will continue its decline in status next year when it loses East Carolina, Tulane and Tulsa to the American Athletic Conference. As replacements, the league has attracted Western Kentucky (Sun Belt) and Old Dominion (FCS). It adds UNC-Charlotte (FCS) in 2015 to get back to 14 schools."

I really do not see the league being that bad this season or going into the future but only time will tell.

Not really. Not when you lose 8 starters from an offense that carried the team. Dixon is a stud but he can only do so much.

And North Texas is solid everywhere except QB. Think they do well but can a QB like Thompson really lead a team to 9 wins in a scoring conference like C-USA ?

I think that Southern Miss record will be a lot better than the computer indicates, but MTSU in second and Marshall third is a pretty good prediction.

even w/ all the losses of players, Tech still has one of the easiest schedules in the nation

That was shocking to see us predicted with not only a winning record but 9 freakin wins. They obviously put a lot of stock in to returning players which we have an abundance of. I think a winning season is possible if some threat of a passing game emerges.

Interesting that the OP-link predicts Tulane to beat LT and to start off 3-0, yet to then finish up 4-8.

I think 4-8 is possible but unlikely -- call it a 10% chance. But if Tulane starts off 3-0, I am positive we will not then lose 7 of 8 to finish the season.

Actually you misread that chart. They only have Marshall winning 5 conference games. This is the 2nd or 3rd prediction that has Marshall losing to Tulsa, ECU and MTSU.

I'm saying I think ECU will only win 5 games the whole season.

Yeah I think that I trust the coaches predictions a little more than yours. Btw, this should really make your day; if you look at the predictor model; the model shows that ECU and Tulsa could be pretty close to running the table. It is just a computer model so don't crap your pants.
