They are all over OKC. It's like a Californian bomb went off. That is not a good thing. That means a systematic change is on the horizon. The plague.

RE: California runs out the remaining small businesses
CARB (Cal Air Resource Board) is one of the major culprits in destroying business and industry. They have onerous regulations that cost in the 10's of thousands per year to comply with. Many small businesses can not afford the regulations. CARB controls everything from manufacturing to trucking.
Their regulations have become nationwide. In order to sell a product in Cal. it must meet CARB standards. My company spent 35K over a 18 month period to have its products certified. It put a burden on us that we did not need during this economic downturn.

They've been saying that since the 1960s.

Locusts. Californians have already turned Oregon and Washington blue. They've turned Colorado purple. Now they're infiltrating Texas & Oklahoma.

Heard a good one on the radio yesterday....50 years ago Hollywood ran your ass out of town if you were a communist, today they run you out if you're not.

Cute line but really it's not true. The Communists in the "McCarthy Era" were still able to work and get paid in the movie business just fine if they wanted to. It's simply that their real names couldn't go in the credits. Many of them used aliases, but within the industry, of course, everyone knew who they were. And even that indignity was basically over by 1962 or so.

A few of the anti-communists who "named names", however, really were cast out from the movie-industry. One of the most successful script-writers for the Marx Brothers was an example of this. There's the real "Hollywood blacklist" for you.

I recently discovered the EPA is adopting CARB rules to apply nationwide next year.

Get used to them.

How can any of these states take Californians seriously when it comes to environmental or governmental issues?
Have they not seen the upcoming Detroit effect in California?

No idea how you came up with that conclusion based on his post.

Never underestimate the short-sightedness of elected officials...and the voters.

He doesn't need--or have--a logical way to come up with that conclusion.

This points out a big problem with the environmental movement. Most of our environmental laws--and an even higher proportion of the regulations issued pursuant to those laws--are intended far more to preserve jobs and budget for envrionmental regulators, lawyers, and consultants than to do any actual good for the environment.

For example, if we are going to have an Endangered Species Act, shouldn't a primary purpose be to find ways to make endangered species become unendangered again? But that's not the way the act works. In fact, some private efforts to accomplish precisely that--restoration of endangered species--have actually been attacked in court and stopped by the EPA--becasue EPA bureaucrats were not in control of the process.

The left has one and only one objective--gaining ever more power over us. Anything else is just rhetoric.

That is the main political lesson of the past 100 years. Any adult who doesn't understand it yet, never will.

I got my source directly from the EPA and couldn't find a news link (I tried).

Feel free to call them and ask.
