I did this pretty quickly without analyzing each match up too much, so don't bash me too hard. I think we will split with Oklahoma State, so I have them winning the first game but us winning the Old Spice. Florida and their front court will take our young front court in New York. Pains me to say it, but Louisville sweeps us. We split with Connecticut and Cincinatti, and a team like SMU catches us slipping on the road. That puts us at 23-7 and 13-5 in Conference. What ya'll think?

Very Realistic Expectations - Well Done.

Looking extremely likely that Chris Walker won't be eligible. With that I would switch that Florida loss to a win.

I can go with that. It is harder to predict for me. We have so many new pieces and I haven't seen them play yet. Hard for me to even take an educated guess at this point.

SMU does no such thing as catching us napping. By March, we're rolling, not losing to Cincy on the road. We will split with U-Con but reverse that W/L order.

25-5

We will see about the rest, but i defeinitely agree, no losing to SMU. There isn't any reason to, and I don't see why we would predict that we might be a team that takes naps like that, anyway.

RE: Season Win/Loss Predictions
I like the OP's assessment, although we may not lose the exact games he tabbed. I think 7 losses on the season is reasonable, although I personally think we beat Louisville twice this season (once at home in March, once in the AAC tourney... at home in March), so i'm picking 6.

Losses to Okie State @ Stillwater.
Florida in NYC.
@ Louisville
@SMU (or another comparable in conference team, Houston maybe, Temple, UCF.)
@ UConn
@ Cincy

We are going to have to find some rebounding to win all these games. If we do it should be a nice year.

Yep. People need to realize we aren't in CUSA anymore, it's ok to take a few losses. Like I said earlier, 7 losses and we are still ranked Top 25 and probably a 4 to 5 seed. I do think if we face Louisville again in the AAC Tournament we get that one done.

sorry just don't agree, Louisville isn't taking two of three from us when 2 of the games are being played on our floor. secondly this is Josh's best team we are very talented. im not getting talked into losing to Louisville twice.

I put down a loss for the Louisville game at home in March, but really I think that one is about a coin flip, with Louisville having a slight edge for now. If Dixon is eligible, and Nichols, Shaq, King, and Iverson live up to most the hype than I can see us grabbing that one, and probably the AAC championship. The past three preseasons I've talked about how we are gonna win all the big games and advance far into the tournament. This season I'm trying to temper my expectations a bit, and hope that I'm wrong.

here is something to think about. you have us down for a bunch of "ifs". you have five ifs for us. doesn't lousiville have some ifs too? they aren't the boston Celtics of the 80's.

Every team has "ifs". Louisville is the defending National Champion, are ranked Top 5 in most polls, and have beat us the past two games. Tell me why it is wrong to make a preseason prediction that they will take 2 of 3 games? I'm not saying they would destroy us, all I'm saying is right now, if I have to GUESS, Louisville has a slight advantage over us.

Two out of the three games in Memphis, in March, after that debacle here last season?

We're winning two out of three.

We're winning two out of three.

now this is a prediction I agree with.

It's a tall task, but I would never be happier to be wrong.

Tall Task why? They have as many question marks as we do. They just get the respect right now because they won the Title.

1. Will Hancock average 21 PPG which was needed for them to win the title?
2. Will Jones come in and be as good or better then Siva at leading the team?
3. Who will replace Dieng?
4. Will their undersized team be able to compete without getting away with fouling non stop and the opponent not getting called for a foul every other play?
5. Will their freshmen and upperclassmen be better then our upperclassmen and our freshmen? Their class has quite a big drop off compared to ours.
6. Will Ware come in after injury and dominate as they expect. Even though he only averaged 4 PPG anyway?
7. Will Russ Smith shoot better then 42% fro the floor and 32% from three?
8. Will their be chemistry issues between Jones ( Known Ball hog and high turnover rate) and Smith ( High PPgs but takes 14-15 shots per game)?

There are others but I'm not going to type everything I see that could potentially go wrong with Louisville. It took pretty much extreme motivation after the Ware incident, a little hook up from the refs and several players playing out of their minds for them to win the title. I do not expect them to replicate it.

They have a nice team but across the board their stars are small. They were able to overcome it last season with officiating, pressing and teams just not being able to keep up with them when they did press. They caused a lot of turnovers due to that press and officiating and no we were not the only team or fan base pissed about it. There were several. Our game was just very obvious.

I gave us a loss @ Louisville however if, our freshmen are as good as advertised and can handle the adjustment to the Division 1 level then I think we can honestly take all 3. By the time we play them we would have already played Florida, Oklahoma State probably twice, LSU, and quite a few "gimmie" games to hone our skills and find out what we truly want to do.
