RE: (OT) Mud Hens plan revitalization to ballpark area
Few people have the capital to take the risk. Makes sense for those that are already successful to try and build up around their investments. Hopefully, the synergy will build the old and the new and then maybe a few more can make the jump. I believe a good core adds another attraction to a city and makes business efficient. Some consider it artificial to over invest in and force a "downtown," that was already abandoned but this is organic. No bad that I can find.

This is the Mud Hens board reaction to the County Commissioners sending excess dollars for stadium debt to the general fund. Ever since that happened, the Mud Hens have found ways to spend the profits, either by buying a hockey franchise or now this. This is going to be hailed as a wonderful investiment, but the status of the current stadium debts on Fifth third Field and the Huntington Center should be considered prior to any expansion of the footprint under Mud Hens board control

You mean the stadium debt from 5/3 Field that was paid off years ahead of schedule because they were so profitable???

If the debt on the ballpark is taken care of that is fabulous. My only point is that this is a government entity doing this because the franchise is owned by the county. Maybe the funds should be paying down the arena debt

figgered that would happen. copy and pasting whole articles definitely a no-no.

Duh'Blade would rather we talk about their articles without actually reading them. That's why they bump non-"subscribers" off their their site (unless you turn off java script). Or maybe there are secret messages in their advertising that they don't want us to see.

Shame really. Looking up old restaurant reviews to find new places is something I used to do at their site. City Paper is on-line, I can still use theirs.

EXACTLY right!!!

they shoulda got someone else to build the huntington center and far bigger because alot of acts are bypassing our little ....shed .

under this management we have yet to see ANY league of arena football and there are at least FIVE leagues that are around.

alaska has two teams for crying out loud. TWO.

maybe we wouldnt have a big hole where there should be seats.

and better naming rights. smh

all this crap theyre in stems from stealing investors from the rossford arena project.

they better hope i never hit the lottery. 04-chairshot

Although you won't see a formal resolution passed, make no mistake I'm sure the Board of Lucas County Commissioners have given the Mud Hens carte blanche approval to proceed. It's a way better alternative than the Lucas County Land Bank (see Nicholas Building). I think the County Comissioners realize if the want those checks to keep rolling in from the Mud Hens they need to keep the stadium AND the area around it clean, safe and fresh.

Furthermore, if you read between the lines what they're really attempting to do is create Wrigleyville type atmosphere. Cubby Bear anybody?
