I wasn't aware of the insecurity issue plaguing much of the conference until last year. Its sad because a couple MAC schools have potential to build nice programs that would elevate the perception of the MAC nationally.

Lol and Teddy has played a much better SOS than OU in that period so those stats are skewed. Has Tittieton destroyed UF?

when a MAC fan has to go to a SOS argument you know they're grasping for straws. So sad.

Not really. Comparison stats only work if both teams have played the same opponents. I'd suspect that L has played a bit tougher schedule.

there are plenty of duds in the Big East/AAC too. Here's a list of Lville's OOC games the last 3 years-

Ohio, Eastern Kentucky(FCS), Kentucky(x3), FIU(x3), Missouri St(FCS), North Carlina(x2), SoMiss, Murray State(FCS), Marshall.

Not exactly a murderer's row.

Miami, BG, NIU, and Toledo are the TOP tier of MAC football by almost every metric, current and historical. Ohio sucks at football.

Historical is a metric that doesn't mean anything. Rice used to average 70,000 a game back in the 50's. Where does that get Rice today?

Northern Illinois is the flagship program of the MAC. They have all the elements a MAC school is looking for.

-Has 3 straight MAC West titles (2 straight MACCs)
-Hosts regular season game annually at Solider Field
-Has new IPF and relatively new Yordon Center
-Made the Orange Bowl in 2012
-Averaged 20,000 last year.
-28,000 seat stadium, all on the sidelines

I don't see how one can say that Miami or BG are Top Tier MAC programs

-Both have 23k-24k capacity among the smaller of the MAC.
-Attendance is barely above the 15,000 minimum
-Only 1 MAC Champ between both schools since 2004.
-Since 2006 BG has made 3 bowls, Miami 1.....Ohio has 5.

They sound more like mid tier MAC programs to me, looking from the outside. Ohio is stronger with 22k attendance average and 2 straight bowl wins. Ohio also has the highest paid and longest tenured coaching staff in the MAC.

The Bobcats have gone 9-1 in their last 10 non-conference games. The only loss is by 12 to Rutgers in 2011.

03-yawn Ohio isn't even Tier 2 (WMU, CentMich, Ball State).

wtf.

Tier 1:
Northern Illinois: Orange Bowl, Soldier Field, 3 straight West titles
Toledo: 20k+ attendance, 7 BCS wins in 10 years
Ohio: Top paid coaching staff, #1 in revenue, 5 bowls since 2006
CMU: #1 NFL draft pick, strong Michigan recruiting, 3 MACCs since 2006

Tier 2: Ball St, Miami, BG, WMU, Kent St

Tier 3: Buffalo, EMU, Akron, UMass

The programs in Tier 1 are a 1/2 step above Tier 2 and 1 step above Tier 3 programs. The margin between programs in the MAC isn't particularly great but some have a little extra muscle due to factors.

MAC Core Members with All-Time Football Winning Percentage LESS THAN .500 (aka NOT Tier 1 or 2)
- Ohio
- Akron
- EMU
- Buffalo
- Kent State

See, this is what I am talking about... There is no reason for Toledo fans to act insecure.

Toledo is a legitimate program and belongs in the top tier like Ohio and NIU. Toledo is capable of so much more than protecting MAC leaches that are dragging down the conference.

Insecure Ohio fan always (wrongly) lumping Ohio with NIU and Toledo at every chance.

Ohio is a football bottom-feeder.

Ohio losing 20 years ago or 10 years ago has much less impact on the next 5 years than our 2 straight bowl wins.

Time to move into this decade MAC fans.

You've been wrong on you're bowl predictions so far so I'll take that bet (j/k).

Ohio and Toledo both have unique opportunities, I believe Louisville and Florida are probably the two most over valued teams in the top 25. A win is possible in both cases and would get a huge bang for your buck.
