Yes, C-USA is actually announcing three bowl ties here, not five:

1) AF/HoD
2) Hawaii/Beefy
3) New Mexico

Overall, I have to tip my hat to the C-USA commissioner. He's working with very little but has nailed down two reasonably decent bowl ties with #1 and #2.

Yes, that is what is happening. Some people like to jump to unfounded conclusions. (As in the title of this thread).

sounds like both CUSA & AAC will come out just fine depending on the Boca/Miami bowl games

If you call 3 bowl games for a 14 team CUSA fine.....

I thought Army/BYU could be involved with the AF and HoD bowls. I wouldn't necessarily assume the AAC has a full six slots in the AF/HoD rotation.

What about the game in New Orleans? Will that be a AAC game or a CUSA game. Could both conferences split that bowl?

I don't think CUSA is done. The paragraph of the article says additional bowl relationships would be announced later. They appear to be capable of landing any bowl we can--so Im sure they will pick up several other bowls we might have been interested in.

I haven't seen anything on New Orleans. Wouldn't surprise me if AAC/CUSA alternate there against Sun Belt.

IA, I think the NO might alternate between CUSA & AAC vs. Sun Belt

I believe he's still trying to get the Boca Bowl game

Conference USA Commissioner Britton Banowsky announced today that the conference has extended its agreement with the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl to participate in the game following the 2014-2019 seasons.

"The New Orleans Bowl has been an outstanding longtime partner of Conference USA," Banowsky said. "We are very pleased to participate in a great bowl game in a terrific destination like New Orleans. We also look forward to working with our other conference partners in maximizing these wonderful opportunities for our student-athletes."

Four bowls for C-USA? C-USA is kicking ass and not bothering to take names today. 07-coffee3

Yeah I know, C-USA has 14 schools, but still: Most are so awful it really is rather amazing that four bowls have gone all-in with them.

So what exactly is Aresco accomplishing again? Ban Ban is making him look bad now. Don't worry though people will be here to defend him and how he couldn't take bowls from the mighty C-USA soon.

So effectively we have no western bowls. Nice job Aresco. Looks like we are doing MUCH worse than we expected.

The conference also signed a 5-year agreement with the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl, where a C-USA team will face a Sun Belt Conference team.

RE: Armed Forces Bowl is/could be out for American
CUSA has secured 3 bowls of the 5 every six years. It may be more available, but that will be on what the arrangements turn out to be. I would not say this terrible for the AAC but it does not bode well either.

Looks to be the following
CUSA
New Mexico - 6 of 6 vs MWC
Hawaii - 3 of 6 (Split with AAC) vs MWC
BOBB - 4 of 6 (Split with ACC) vs AAC
This where it could get tricky. Remember the MWC is assured slots when they don't appear in Hawaii (Looking at worst case scenario)
Armed Forces - 3 of 6 (1 MWC/2AAC) vs B12/B10
HOD - 3 or 6 (1 MWC/2AAC) vs B12/B10

I give C-USA credit, with what they lost, they may end up with the better bowl deals than MWC and AAC. This is based on "perceived" lower quality of teams verse MWC and AAC. Figure they will probably have at least two more bowls verse SB and MAC. Very impressed with Banowsky.

At one point in time, Army had a deal with the Armed Forces Bowl for 2014 and 2017. I'm not sure if that is still in place or not.

Yupp. AAC expected to be in the other.

How? Army and Navy each have a tie to the AFB, as does the B1G and XII. Where does the American fit in? I don't think they do.

He's getting close to making Karl Benson look like a great commissioner.

C'mon guys. What could Aresco do? CUSA is going to take what they want first. Then we can pick. Be patient.
