"We are not Alabama but we are not Sam Houston." Score of last year's A&M-SHSU game was 47-28. Tell me you wouldn't be thrilled with that score line.

Depends on how that scoreline comes up. If it is 44-7 in the 3Q and the remaining are garbage time points against third stringers, then absolutely not. Regardless, if we can withstand the initial barrage in Q1, we have a shot at making this a game. If we go down 28-0 in 5 minutes, it doesn't really matter.
Page 2 has some decent replies.

I know it's been 20 years, but the fact is we've lost our last two games to A&M by a combined score of 24-10.

Yep...got clobbered there...I and other Parliament folks have posted over on other boards for years (Army, Purdue, UCLA, KU, etc.). Responses are almost always professional, constructive, insightful, etc. to get some conversation going on the game, schemes, players, etc. Not so at TexAgs... Lots of attitude and noise. As much as they hate Texas and their attitude, they are looking more and more like them. I did have some Rice sense of humor on the 'year 7 of rebuilding' but sure it got lost on the crowd..

RE: Owl 40's been slumming
I don't know why owl40 is bothering. The aggies are perpetually delusional about themselves (in both academics and athletics), and though they do have a mighty good football team now ('bout time), it is not as if they are capable of sober and unbiased discussion.
I will correct owl40 on two things: Rice did not "beat" UCLA after the first quarter (or the first six minutes, or whatever), and the Owls would have struggled mightily to defeat any of the elite teams in the FCS last year, Sam Houston State most certainly included.
I will provide more observations about this affair closer to game day. In any case, we must bear in mind that this might be the best team that the aggies have ever had; they may be late to the party, but they have arrived all the same. Even keeping it close will be a major challenge for our boys.

You got fact-checked by the Aggies! I didn't think that was even possible. The UCLA comment would have been embarrassing even if it was true.

I really can't believe this happened. I mean, anyone who watched the game last year should remember that we had a paltry 10 or so minutes of dominance before UCLA got the steamroller revved up again. They took it to us both early and late.
Owl40, you're a great supporter and poster, but c'mon... Don't feed the aggies.

Pretty funny reading their board. What would be classic is if they start JFF as they call him, win the game, then forfeit 2 weeks later. It will be interesting to see if the NCAA has the stones to do something. At the same time it will be interesting to see if ATM has reached the level where the NCAA will turn a blind eye. If this goes unchecked, NCAA will have formally ceded control to the football factories.

You're my hero owl40. It was a great write up, but the response on that Neanderthal board was totally expected. Congratulations on having the gumption to go over there and beard the lion. As for the UCLA comment, don't worry about it. Personally, I've never let the facts get in the way of a good argument.

It will be interesting to see what the NCAA does. If they gave Pryor five games for a tattoo, there's no way they can let JFF off with anything less.

You would think. Hopefully they don't follow the Pryor model and wait until the suspension no longer matters. I am not sure how this thing will shake out.

Pryor's penalty was harsh, compared to Cam Newton's. At this point it's hard to predict whether Manziel and A&M will get a slap on the wrist or not.

Fair point, but Pryor was allowed to play n the Sugar Bowl and then avoided punishment by going pro. In the end, the harsh punishment was never really received. I think the NCAA needs to make a decision to either enforce the rules or turn it into a sanctioned free for all. I think if schools were hit with heavy financial fines they would get a lot more serious about compliance. Right now a coach who gets caught cheating just leaves and joins a new program. Imagine if a coach/player cost a school $5-$10 MM. The next job search may be a little more difficult. University presidents would also think twice about bringing in a superstar with questionable character. I know this will never happen, but I think it is the best shot at getting some level of control. I feel like the teams who have been cheating have been rewarded and those who have played by the rules are getting pushed aside. Off my soap box. Apologize for moving off topic.
