Caught a replay of it late night a couple weeks ago. Man our defense was putrid in that game. But we out-talented Duke in the end (plus caught some breaks). I remember freezing the second half of that game and being numb the last couple of minutes. Definitely a game I'll never forget.

Watching the broadcast for the first time since I was at the New Mexico basketball game that night. They just brought Tuberville into the booth to talk. Makes me think back to after Butch left and how some people were calling for Kerry Coombs to be brought in as the head coach. Man what a difference guys like Whit and Prez Ono running the show can mean to the program! Boy am I excited for this season to get started.

With absolutely no disrespect to Kerry, I think it says way more about how a lot of Cincinnati fans won't allow themselves to dream big. That's the "vision thing" that so many leadership gurus talk about and Santa and Whit clearly have it. That's why I feel confident UC will compete in the P5 before too long.

Having been at the game, I was surprised watching the replay. The color commentator (didn't catch his name) was clearly pro-Duke; very excited with their big plays and nonchalant about the great UC comeback.

You are thinking of the play-by-play announcer Mike Patrick. Patrick has been broadcasting ACC football and basketball for over 30 years. Fans of other ACC schools rip on him for being pro-Duke. He makes Dick Vitale look like a hater.

The whole thing seemed like it was an ESPN-Duke lovefest. They started the broadcast with their HC's pregame speech and kept going over their meager bowl history throughout the game. Missed a big opportunity to talk about UC's prep using a skeleton coaching staff with coaching interns being pushed in bigger roles. It sounded like a script from a movie. Guess that's what made the win so much sweeter.

Its available to watch on U-tube anytime that you want. I like the fact that they went on and on about helmet to helmet hits, but didn't mention anything about the Duke player who went helmet to helmet and knocked himself out in the first quarter.
