RE: Putting in my order
Here's my order: New AD, New Men's coach and a totally different mindset about building and selling this program. I can't enjoy the thought of any good talent coming here only to be stymied in front of a dismal "crowd". I'm fed up, it's been too long. Oh, and while we are at it, let's get a new Chancellor who can tell "the system" where they can stick it. Or better yet, get the hell out of the UA system altogether. I feel like an idiot for ever believing any of this would ever improve.

Not where I stand, and I don't think there is anyone more long time than I am.

"I'm Standin on the shores of the River Jordan". Good idea for my next musical composition. Has nothing to do with UALR, but just thought I'd throw it in for a little comic relief.

Jim, Honestly, where do you stand?

the team seems poorly coached and we are losing fans. Do you feel different than that?

Not where I stand, but I think you have me beat. I moved to Little Rock in Coach Kestenbaum's 2nd to last year. Went to a bunch of games that year and bought season tickets the next.

I thought you were saying that the long time fans feel like idiots for thinking that we will always have the same chancellor, AD, and head coach and always get the same mistreatment by the local media and never be a consistently winning program. And I don't. I still think all of those things will change one day. If not, Trojans are only a HOBBY, people, for three and a half months a year. Golf is year round. I enjoy the Trojan games and root like hell for them as I have for 39 years. I get depressed when we get knocked out of the tourney each year as do the best fans of every other school in the nation save one. But I GET OVER it and live my life, do my job, and let Dr. Anderson, Chris, and Steve do theirs. Neither anger nor long-term depression has been a characteristic of mine ... ever That's where I stand ... honestly.

RE: Putting in my order
Is our program perfect? No. Most mid majors probably suffer through the same ups and downs as we do each season.
I have no idea what it takes to keep a program financially afloat. We might have some different ideas as to what is needed to help the program grow, but Chris is in charge of keeping the athletic department financially solvent, and I suppose he is doing that or he wouldn't have a job.

Steve has the job of putting an acceptable team on the court each year. Granted we haven't won championships, but a lot of other teams in our league haven't either. Our teams have normally finished in the upper echelon of our conference. Maybe third or fourth most seasons. Programs like Western and Middle have some big advantages over us with large on campus student population and long term winning tradition. I'm not saying we can't do better. And eventually we either will or there will be a change in leadership. But until that time I'm going to continue to be there cheering for the Trojans. Winter is a somewhat dismal time, and the games give me something to look forward to.
I see signs of improvement. Students attending games and staying for the entire games. Better recruiting. More students living on campus as we transition into more of a traditional University. So I continue to be optimistic. I'm looking forward to another exciting season at the Jack.

Good post. Couldn't agree with you more. I'd love to see us do more promotions, ticket give-aways, mini-ticket packages, etc. But that is easy for me to say, because I don't pay the bills. Chris does, and he knows a lot more than me about how to keep an athletic progrgam financially solvent. Like Jim, I'll let Steve and Chris do the hard work, and I will just come and enjoy the games. Since I don't play golf, UALR athletics is really my only diversion/hobby.

RE: Putting in my order
Golf is my passion, so I do have that, but only in decent weather. And I play very little in January and February, so basketball is my main diversion. It gives me something to really look forward to when I can't play golf. I'm just thankful we have a D1 program right here in Little Rock. Hey. I was just in Chicago and took a tour around the city. The Cubs happened to be playing that afternoon, and when the tour bus drove around Wrigley Field, a lot of folks were already at the game at 11:30 A.M., and the game didn't start until 1:30. The point I'm trying to make is that the Cubs haven't won a World Series since 1908, but their fans still love them. I think if you like basketball and you have a team you support, you support them in good times and bad. Like Curtis has posted, I feel like I'm a member of the UALR family. And you don't give up on your family when things aren't always going well. I realize that everyone has a different opinion of things and that's just mine. Don't give up on the program because part of the fun of going to the games is meeting with you guys before the game and/or at halftime and chewing the fat. Just think of it as a series of family reunions for a few months during the Winter.

I have never understood "fans" who are ready to give up on their team when things aren't going the way they'd like. Fan is short for "fanatic". That's the way I've always been for the team I pull for. Maybe I should live in Chicago.
