Is anyone else a fan of the Kick-ass movies?
I saw the new one Saturday night and loved it. People are calling it a flop but the first one only made 19 million domestic. The sequel Made almost 14 million already in it's opening weekend. The budget of the movie was 28 million so it will turn a nice profit especially once it's released on DVD and Blu-ray. I am not sure why people thought it was going to be a box offiicial hit? Again the first one wasn't. The first one wasn't supposed to do anything and because of it being a minor hit and having a huge cult following they decided to make a sequel well its the same cult following that's going to see the second one! Anyway go see it! If you haven't seen the first one watch it first. These movies are definitely not for everybody

Not to split hairs but I believe the announced budget for movies, 28 million in this case, is the PRODUCTION budget. That doesn't count for millions spent advertising and promoting the movie. I've wondered the same thing about other movies called 'flops', even though they grossed more than their budget, so that's how I came across this info.

Here's a good site on this:
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/about/boxoffice.htm

How do you think this one compared to the first? I really was surprised how much I liked the original, and I haven't seen the second yet. I hope to catch it sometime soon.

Although, I also must say that Jim Carrey's attitude about this whole movie really pissed me off. Google around if you are curious.

That's not accurate. The first one made $19.8 million its opening weekend, not for the entire life of its theatrical run. As such, the second one's opening weekend actually lags behind its predecessor (quite a bit behind, in fact).
Yeah your right
