Keep in mind, this is the same QB that bounced a WR screen, multiple times, doesn't have the accuracy to hit mid range throws, doesn't have the touch to hit crossing routes and doesn't have the arm strength to hit deep passes. i am rather disappointed that the coaching staff has seen fit to move others around to other positions, yet have not moved Munchie to a more appropriate position. i know other posters will talk about having an experienced backup at the position, but experience doesn't trump competence. if Munchie does start, hopefully he'll have a very short leash but until he proves otherwise, i don't want him taking snaps at QB.

Where would they move him? He would not crack the two deep roster at WR and does not have the skill set to play RB or on defense.

I prefer Kay but if Munchie lines up behind center he has my complete support as a fan
t. I am not going to boo the kid or act like an ass on message boards (not saying you are). Munchie played terrible last year but from what I can tell he has come back with a positive attitude and wants to prove his doubters wrong. Good for him.. he could have easily quit and went elsewhere.

If its Munchie because Kay can't go, we are likely heading for mid-
pack finish anyways...look to the future and go with Coney. We believe Coney is a QB at this level. We know what Munchie is already.

Personally I think this is all pointless, Kay will be out there. He has a sore shoulder from training camp it happens, but the thought of watching Munchie out there again is clearly enough to get the entire board going crazy. Some fans are putting the blinders on already, if Munchie is out there our this year will be a gigantic disappointment. I don't know how far along Coney is but I'd rather see anyone else out there.

I'm praying this nonsense is cleared up asap and I can go back to being pumped about the start of UC football.

This isn't about his attitude or effort. it's about competency and physical capacity. i didn't see enough from last season to convince that he is a starting caliber QB. Has he improved? Perhaps, but he hasn't shown it when it counts. i take your point in regards to moving him positions. Defense and RB are out. All things being equal, the natural place for him would be WR. That said, with Norvell's transfer, we are thin at QB (for now), and way deeper at WR, and probably need him to stick at QB, as QB3, for now.

As an aside, whether he would have been able to crack the two deep at WR is moot. Playing time should be earned based upon performance. Experience alone can only take you so far; and yet with this kid, it seems to have vaulted him into potentially starting...

It seems to be that TT is getting Munchie ready in case Kay can't go against Purdue or has a week where he has to sit out. Going with Munchie might be better than throwing someone out there without game experience but thats up for the coaches to decide.

Based on what we saw against Louisville, Toledo and Syracuse last year, that point could be argued very easily. During that stretch he went 39-86 (45%) with 2 TDs and 6 INTs. I know Coney doesn't have game experience, but it's hard to believe he could do much worse than that. I like what I saw from him in the spring game but he looked head and shoulders better than Munchie once they actually went live (granted that's not a large sample size).

Anybody ever consider that this may just be a little gamesmanship on the part of TT to mess with Purdue's preparations?

I think its a combination of gamesmanship and getting you backups prepared and motivated in case you need them.

I think there is definitely some of that involved. Two different styles to prepare for, not to mention, who really knows what UC will do with so many changes.

IIRC, someone mentioned that Tuberville's next depth chart will be released on Wednesday. Wonder if he'll make an announcement around then but more than likely Kay and Legaux will be separated by the "-or-" statement on the two deep.

I feel like, under Butch, half of our lineup contained an "or" on a week to week basis.

Am i the only one that thinks we'd still finish the OOC schedule undefeated with Munchie as QB?

Didn't happen last year with that awful game at Toledo. No idea if he
is a better player and can consistently make accurate throws.

Bingo. We had no business losing to Toledo. Munchie wasn't the only problem in that game but a competent QB wins that game for us.
