CUSA Board Discussion

Some recent cartel discussions were mentioning $8K-10K. Don't know think that's probable - seems kinda excessive, but...

RE: Athletes would get stipend under C-USA proposal
The "stipend issue" will not go away anytime soon. Coaches making millions - including some assistant coaches at marquee programs - ADs making half a million just to be the errand boys of millionaire boosters (hiring the coaches the boosters want to hire and inside contractors who build the edifices the department can afford with the "charitable contributions" to pay for it all).

Yes, the median SEC program in 2010 spent over $165,000 per athlete so one might suspect which programs were above that median amount, but how far above is just guesswork. Under NCAA rules, none of that largess was given to any athletes so where did it go? BTW, the #2 conference in 2010 was the Big 12 which trailed the SEC by about $35,000 per athlete.

$2000 stipend. Most people are discussing football players, but due to Title IX whatever you pay the star athlete football player, you have to pay the bench warming women's golf player.

Yeah... You think UAB is at a competitive disadvantage right now, just wait and see what happens when the NCAA approves cash getting exchanged for play. The players are not treated as poorly as so many people try to make it out to be.

If players are paid, then teams like Alabama, Ohio State, Florida and LSU will have a competitive advantage over smaller schools. That would be a disaster...and absolutely exactly how it is now.

The NCAA could throw out the rule book and the same teams will rule the college landscape. Nothing will change from how it is today.
