CNNSI Interview with Commish About Bowls
Discusses mostly the new Cammelia Bowl but also notes...
"SI: I have to believe the bowl schedule still isn’t completely set. This isn’t it for the MAC, right?
JS: Correct. We’ll go to at least four primaries, and we may do a fifth. We’ll see. And probably one or more backup agreements as well. We have to balance our primaries and grow them. Our success on the field has shown we can support more games. To go in four and five would be a step in the right direction, while at the same time making sure we can help contribute to the system in case there are system openings as well."
What would the five be?
Also, CNNSI has been given the MAC a lot of coverage the past few weeks - more than our "partner" ESPN.

GoDaddy vs Sun Belt
Boca vs CUSA
Potato vs MWC
Montgomery Bowl vs Sun Belt
The 5th one depends on the AAC, MWC and CUSA pickups because their schools are closer to the bowls.
No doubt that AQ spots will be open every year. We should go after the lowest SEC bowl and Detroit.

Two beat writers have confirmed CUSA is pretty far along with Boca Raton and a Bahamas bowl.

If I'm CUSA, Boca vs. AAC & Bahamas vs. MAC

RE: CNNSI Interview with Commish About Bowls
The bowl news has been flying around today and hard to keep up with but from what we know it sounds like we are looking at the following lineup.
MAC (5 Bowls)
1a) CFP/At-Large
1b) Mobile (vs. SBC)
2) Boise (vs. MWC)
3) Bahamas (vs. CUSA)
4) Montgomery (vs. SBC)
5) Orlando (vs. AAC)
Backups: Boca Raton, Christmas
-The 2 bowl games in Alabama situation sucks for the conference but its probable that CUSA takes Mobile from the MAC by 2013 once they become more established. From that perspective Montgomery is looking to the future. The MAC could then replace Mobile with Charleston to play against an improved SBC by then.
-The numbers (5 bowl games, 2 primaries) are finally right for this conference reflecting the quality on the field and tradition. What we'll have will be equivalent to the other G5 conferences except the SBC.
I think bowl organizers are worried about tying into the SBC when all it takes is one more major dosage of realignment and they are either out of business or in serious trouble from a numbers standpoint.
AAC (adds BYU, AFA)
MWC (adds UTEP)
CUSA (adds Ark St, ULL, Georgia St)
Even with minimal movement in the G5 that conference is going to take a major hit.

I don't see a universe that two teams as far west out as the mountain time zone leave for the AAC...
If AAC grabs anyone I think it's So Miss and maybe Marshall, CUSA reloads with ArkSt, ULL and the belt picks up lord knows who.

Makes sense for no one. Even the Big 12 is a fair bit east for these teams, although I suspect there will be some activity there.

Then it's fully complete: conferences just renamed themselves. (Too bad, b/c there were some potentially interesting conferences that could have been crafted).
