I'm glad there is more civility in this forum now...
...and that there are no mean spirited threads like a most hated poster or something like that. I sometimes get concerned when I see threads like the most hated sports figure. That would be very low brow for the group and not conducive with the sense of brotherly love that has been growing on the board lately.
I just wanted to tell everyone that I'm liking the new tone over here.

Although your post is generally well conceived, your thoughts about the "most hated athlete" is really not that out of place. Certainly, hate, in this context, is not the type of hate that we ascribe to violent behavior. It is more of a shorthand for "opponent who has caused my team the most distress."
We often hear that fans of Michigan hate Ohio State, or fans of Bama hate Auburn, or you name a bitter rivalry. That's all it is, intense rivalry. I went to a USC-UCLA game a few years ago and was sitting next to a man who appeared to be about 80 years old and was wearing socks (yes that is not a typo, the things that cover your feet beneath shoes) that were embroidered with "I hate UCLA."
Now every now and then a fan gets carried away (see: tree at Toomer's Corner) but for the most part, it is just a rivalry and not anything you need be concerned about.

speaking of rivalries- I loved what I heard this summer-
An Ohio St fan(12 yrs old I want to say) came down with cancer. They called their tumor Michigan and his cry was I'm gonna beat Michigan. Well sure enough he did beat Michigan. What I loved was Brady Hoke got in touch with them and offered them tickets to this years game with Ohio St.

It's because generally, the best of the ESPN posters came over here while the rest scurried over to Hoopla to partake in the lameness.

Ain't that the truth.
I have visited Hoopla and see the same old "your team sucks" stuff that filled the ESPN boards. Plus, here you get to keep politics separate, which is an excellent idea.

Hoopla is also filled with childish memes, lame one liners, unfunny insults, ridiculous mods who ban you for no reason, and a weird sense of entitlement. This site is far superior, but I miss the ESPN days.
