RE: 2014 Basketball Recruits
Trey Porter, 6-10 visited ODU today, plays on Boo's AAU team. Here a write up on him from last month, I've seen him a couple of time but his playing time was limited, he has big nice frame and is active thats all I got.

Trey Porter, 2014 PF, Boo Williams: You can't teach height, and the 6-foot-10 post prospect has it. In the past year, his game has grown by leaps and bounds, and he's beginning to become a division one priority for several schools. While his game is far from a polished product, many mid-major and high-major coaches will be offering the Virginia native with hopes of uncovering one of the biggest gems in the 2014 class. His rebounding and shot-blocking was crucial in his team's upset victory over a powerful Houston Hoops squad Saturday night

RE: 2014 Basketball Recruits
I posted this in a different thread but you should add PG LaDarein Autry, 6'0, Lee Davis (VA), to the list. He has an offer from ODU, Rider, Seton Hall and Radford and visited ODU last week according to his twitter.

Here is his JR year highlight:

Here is the only recruiting related page I could find on him. Says as a sophomore he averaged 22.3 ppg, 5.7 assists and shot 43% from deep:

We're good with Boo. Talked to Finney and Snowden's AAU coach for an hour the day the story broke. We have two coaches who have coached for Boo, we are good.

I see your point razor, but Boo has never pushed the recruits on his A team our way..

Carver and Clarke in 2015 would be the start of a nice class. Great info in the opening post, hopefully JJ, Stith and JR get some good ones

Good point. But Blaine played a pretty big role in that as well.

I know he didn't help, but you have to go back to Tom Young for a time when we had a true local studs. I.e. Mario Mullen, Petey Sessoms

RE: 2014 Basketball Recruits
Sorta OT: The more I read into it the more I think Aaron Carver and his younger brother Trey are a package deal. Trey is a rising Sophomore (class of 2016) and is being recruited by Bryant Stith. Also, consensus #1 player in the 2016 class is Harry Giles (leaders UNC, Duke, Kentucky) and he is listed as having "cool" interest in ODU. He recently tore his ACL, MCL, and Meniscus at the U-16 worlds.

RE: 2014 Basketball Recruits
Agree about Trey Carver could follow his brother to ODU. Talked about someone who gets instance respect around the players and their families is Bryant.

The 2014 class like the 2013 is light on bigs, but there's some talented SF and wings in 2014.

Just FYI, Javis Howard on the PF list has already committed to Charleston Southern. Huge steal for them. Will be a monster in the Big South.

+1

JJ has offered PG Tarin Smith and SG Ronshad Shabazz from what I understand.

N/M Shabazz is 2015.

Great thread!

Thanks will update.

Question on guys who commits elsewhere or scratches ODU off there list, should we leave them on or remove them? I would like the list on the front page to be up-to-date.

I'd lean toward removing them simply because there are some really ambitious offers out there.

Ben Finney, Frank Hassell and Kent Bazemore were pretty darn good local players. Id put all of them in "Mario Mullen" category. Mullen would have been one of the greats if not for his car wreck. Darius wasnt bad either.

The next post I want to see is 6'9", 6'10" or 6'11"!!! No more 6'2"-6'6" PG. Thats the ONLY thing that may change my outlook on JJ.
