For some reason I though he was eligible to play next year. I thought he was like Arledge. I would not want to invest two years because he would be consuming a year where we could recruit other players.

Agree. Id only take him if he could play this year.

Then again, we have 2 open scholarships next year. Why not take a chance on a 1 year guy. It can't hurt. Better than an empty chair.

I would take him based on this reasoning as an investment as a future recruiter.

I think he is from Nigeria....

When I saw this I was like, here we go again!

Thank you for posting all of that info 35. I was planning on going through my tweets and posting all of that. I think it's about time for a new thread for 2017 mbb recruiting.

All d1 programs. Was 2nd team all state tourney his junior year, broke the state block shot record with 24 in 4 games. Averaged 16.9ppg and 10.5rpg senior year. Didn't have the grades to go d1, signed with d2 northwest Nazarene before his senior year. Head coach retired and assistant coach became head coach and Lewis Clark state. He followed him there. Redshirted, then needed to take a year off to mature. Attended edmonds cc and dominated, transfered to dodge city to prove his success wasn't just because of the lack of competition. As for being soft, payton loves to battle downlow, in his highlight film from edmonds he had a back injury so he didn't go towards contact to avoid missing more games. He's not an injury prone player. Played through a damaged disk in his spine for most of that year, he recovered from that 100% and he told me he's been playing well and getting bigger and better everyday. You guys got a great pick up, payton really is a gym rat and wants nothing more to play professional basketball. He puts the work in, and once you guys see him on the court next year you guys will love him. His 21st best player in juco is no joke, and he'll move up in rankings throughout the year.

Sounds like an intriguing prospect. Too bad he never showed up.
