Duke will struggle to win and very possibly lose their opener. I have my blue glasses on but Memphis is building and quickly. We were so bad two years ago that only with a shovel could we have gotten any lower.

Ball State

won 9 games last year, 2vs AQ schools, beat a ranked team on the road, all 4 losses came to teams with 10+ wins. 3rd year starter at QB with 65% comp, 134.8 QB rating, good head coach, and a weak schedule.

OOC this year- Illinois State, Army, @North Texas, @Virginia.

In conference they play Toledo and Kent State at home, NIU on the road.

10 wins is realistic, with a little luck they could run the table.

Ole Miss fans hate pine box. Auburn fans could wait to ride his butt out of town and Tech fans think he is low rent trailer trash. He has a losing record at Ole Miss and Tech( gave the Red Raiders our 1st losing season in 20 years plus 3 straight losing conference season. That hasn't been accomplished since the 80's in Lubbock) and at Auburn he was horrible without stud coordinators. I'm glad the loser downgraded in conference and fan support.

Cincy fans will soon learn what Rebel, Tiger and Red Raider fans know, loser HC that has lost the fire in his belly to win. A few SEC openings the past few years and all passed on tommy.

Not this year. They'll easily be 6th, barely beating out UK.

I don't think they have a chance at the Atlantic Division, but it wouldn't surprise me to see them double their win total before the bowl. People look at their eight losses last year but five of the eight were by 10 or less points with an offense decimated by injury. They have talent....WR Stefon Diggs would start at any ACC program except maybe Clemson.

Maryland is my clear pick for #3 in the Atlantic, probably #5 overall in the ACC.

That's a good pick. I could see UMD with 8 wins easy.

ECU with 16 starters back from an 8-5 team and the schedule to put them in the BcS.

I believe that Duke finally has a head coach that can take them to heights never before seen at Duke. Just my opinion. I've been impressed with their improvement over the last few years.

RE: Here's the toughest question: what team will be the positive surprise this year
Toledo will not only be a surprise, they have a schedule that enables them to reach the top 20 if they pull off the W's.

1) Open at Florida that is replacing alot of talent. Driskoll had an emergancy appendectomy at the start of this month and Florida's starting MLB had his 2nd brush with the law this offseason and violated a team curfew.

2) Game 2 at Mizzou, Gary Pinkell used to have the head job at Toledo

Toledo returns alot of talent and was one of the higher scoring offenses in the nation last year averaging 33. Fluellen ran for 1500 and 13 td's.Bernard Riley caught 88 for 1113, also averaged 27,7 on 32 KO returns scoring on 3, averages 11.1 on 18 P returns scoring on 1.

This team has been held back by poor offensive coaching for years even though we won 10 or 11 games every year. Now we have all new offensive coaches. They almost have to be better.

I rescind my pick of VT to make noise this year. Based on injuries and what I've read about the OL, I'm now picking VT for under 9.5 wins.

I really think Tubs is a terrible fit for you guys. That honeymoon will be over by mid season

your opinion noted....I assume if that's not the case you will have the sac to come over to the UC board and fess up

He was getting ready to be fired at TT. I assume TT has talent similar to UC's, why do you guys think hes going to be good? He will be a major downgrade from Kelly and Butch. Notice how those two coaches are now at better jobs yet Tubs downgraded to a G5 school... I really don't have anything against UC but you guys were sold a donkey and told it was a Derby winning thoroughbred.

G5...for now

Again, your opinion noted. I assume if you are wrong you will have the sac to come to the UC board and fess up.

And no..we don't have the same talent as Texas Tech...this UC team has a lot more talent. This is a great team in the making.

04-cheers Not gloating by any means because there is a lot left in the season.

not to say I told you so but halfway through the season and Ball State is 5-1 with a road win over UVa by 21pts.

A home game against a regressed Kent State and a very tough road game against Northern Ilinois are the only challenges remaining on the schedule.

10-2(7-1) is very likely, 11-1(8-0) is still a possibility.

I have been very vocal about my displeasure in this year's team. In fairness I will throw out in defense of CTT this: it's not helping that our starting qb is gone for the year, our back up qb (last year's starter by midseason) has played hurt and our top two wide receivers are hurt with one not having played in a game yet and the the other just coming back with a few snaps in our last game. That's a tough situation for anybody, and esp new coach and staff. Throw in the UC player that died with his buddy in ICU currently due to car wreck and CTT certainly has not had an easy time here, some of which are things out of his control.

Not making excuses, but the man has some obstacles for sure right now. Lot of football left, we can see if this ship can be turned around and the season salvaged on some level or not.

I'm sure the circumstances surrounding Ben Flick's death have been very hard on the Bearcats, and the injuries to your key skill people haven't helped the situation any. It's hard enough to win without all that thrown in your path...

Injuries happen to every team but we sure had more than our fair share under pine box. The tommy lovers at Tech used that as an excuse as to why we sucked so bad. I'm not saying that is the situation at Cincy.

JMHO, but problems, injuries, etc are all excuses he uses to hide his inability to coach up a team. Again, just my opinion.

agree that injuries happen to all teams and are part of it...you will also agree some injuries are harder to overcome than others...in UC's case starting qb and top two wr's....I don't care who you are, that's tough.

Some of the wrong posts (Connecticut??) were really bad.
