"Fifteen-year-old Anthony Stokes has less than six months to live unless he receives an emergency heart transplant. But his family has been told that Anthony doesn’t qualify for the transplant list because he has a “history of non-compliance” — partly due to his history of earning low grades and having some trouble with the law."

I am pro-life so I would let him die. He is a criminal so he should get the death penalty. Not to mention he is black so we are just saving tax payers money in the future because he won't live on welfare the rest of his life- not to mention any kids he will have.

Nice. Now, anything of value to add?
No. That pretty much sums up the Republicon viewpoint and we know it is of no value.

Hey look, a liberal racist... Your ass egg hatchlings wouldn't be too happy with you if they knew you were an open racist... Yall are supposed to keep that crap behind closed doors where nobody can hear you.

Smoke what? Given your posts, it isn't just cigarettes.

If you smoke, drink, have taken drugs in your past, show a propensity to not take care of yourself... you are disqualified. I'd never qualify either and I don't smoke or do drugs. Just drink alcohol.

Nails in your coffin, man.

You're an adult, and I'm a civil libertarian, though, so that's my last word on the subject.

Everyone dies of something. Whether it be smoking, drinking, walking in front of a bus(which of course I would recommend to a number of people on this board).

You wouldn't bypass to the next in line who isn't breaking the law and actually wants to live?

It's a conundrum.

Besides that, I would just have a hard time condemning a 15 year old to death for what are probably misdemeanors.

But I'm not a doctor, nor have I been privy to such decision making. There are probably other factors that I'm not considering.

Responding to all of this.

It is an assumption that the kids problems are misdemeanors. We honestly don't know that. Someone's "compliance" is an absolute part of being given the incredibly expensive gift of a transplant. Much is made here about the life of the kid, but little is said about the life that must be given for him to get the gift and the life that may be lost because this guy gets the next transplant and not the next Steve Jobs or Martin Luther King.

I feel for the kid and his family, but this is a perfect example of someone's poor choices possibly hurting his future and us trying to eliminate consequences for people. We can argue about how much effect poor grades and run-ins with the law should have on your "place in line", but we should all agree that there are consequences to poor grades and disobedience.

When you apply for school or a loan or a job or to be President, you are weighed against others seeking the same thing. RARELY do you get something important merely because you are "next".

RE: 15 y/o Anthony Stokes has been denied the heart transplant that would save his life
again: Everyone is looking so hard through the article to find something to score "political points" with.. they're ignoring the line from his own parents.

“They said they don’t have any evidence that he would take his medicine or that he would go to his follow-ups,”. (And that is the quote from his family. Everything else is from family friends.)

if he's not taking care of himself now... why would that change if he were given a new heart

Transplant requirements have always been very strict, this happens every day to people of all colors. But hey you liberal dopes, thanks to your fellow leftist legislators the entire system will soon be full of stories like this for every day medical procedures.

Quote:The family of a dying 15-year-old boy says he has been added to the list for a heart transplant.

In a statement this weekend, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta spokeswoman Patty Gregory said in a statement, "The well-being of our patients is always our first priority. We are continuing to work with this family and looking at all options regarding this patient's health care. We follow very specific criteria in determining eligibility for a transplant of any kind."

I just saw this on the local news.

I don't know what I'd do if I was making the call.
